Book Title: Harry Potter & The Halfblood Prince Author: J.K. Rowling Publisher: Bloomsbury Title: The title of the book the halfblood prince reffers to professor Severus Snape. He is born as a halfblood child. He admits this to Harry after he killed Dumbledore and attempts to escape. Harry runs after him and tries to curse him. Snape knows all the curses Harry tries because he invented them, Snape tells him. Setting: The story takes place at Hogwarts. There are also a few other places such as the cave, The Burrow, Hogsmeade

and also the memories. Theme: The theme is similair to the other Harry Potter books. It is about the battle and difference between good and evil. Main Characters: Harry Potter: As he is getting older in the book he is also learning more about himself and Voldemort. He also gets to know more about his relation towards Voldemort. Why Voldemort wants to kill Harry. Harry learns how he can destory Voldemort but that is not an easy task. He also falls in love with Ginny, Rons younger sister. This year in Hogwarts he becomes captain of the Gryffindor Quidditchteam. Professor Dumbledore: He plays a big part in this book. He helps Harry to understand more about Voldemort and how to destroy him. He is also trying to do that himself. When he takes Harry on a tripe to the cave where one of the Horcruxes is hidden he gets badly injured. When he returns to Hogwarts with Harry he gets killed. Minor Characters: Hermione Granger & Ron Weasly: They are the best friends of Harry Potter. They support him and help him as much as they possibly can. They also get in a cat fight between eachother. When Ron gets a girlfriend Hermione gets very jealous. Hermione also does not aprove Harry using the descriptions from the Half Blood Prince that is written in his potions book. Professor Snape: Finally you get to know more about Snape. Where he is from and his past. You also find out what his intentions were all along; why he still is a teacher at Hogwarts and to whom he is devoted to: Dumbledore or Voldemort. He also helps Draco in fullfilling his task to kill Dumbledore.
Draco Malfoy: Draco gets more mysterious. He has been given a special tak from Lord Voldemort. He has to kill Dumbledore. Harry is constantly trying to find out where Draco is going and what he is doing. Draco also gets attacked by Harry. Plot Outline: Professor Dumbledore goes to Harry and brings him to the burrow where he will be spending the rest of his holiday. Dumbledore asks Harry a favor. He wants Harry to persuade Horatio Slughorn to come back to Hogwarts and teach again. When Ron, Hermione and Harry go to Diagone Alley to buy their supplies for the next schoolyear they see Draco Malfoy. He is acting very supicous and they dicide to follow him. They can't find out what Draco is up to, but Harry decides to keep an eye on him. Slughorn decides to come back to Hogwarts. He will be the teacher of potions and Snape wil become teacher againts the dark arts, which he has always wanted. Harry gets really good in potions thanks to his new book. In the book there are allot of descriptions from the Half Blood Prince, but there are also curses in it, which Harry wants to try out. Dumbledore told Harry that he will be giving him special private lessons this year where Harry will get to know more about Lord Voldemort. In one of these lessons Harry gets homework. He needs to get a memory from professor Slughorn. After some fallures he tries it one more time and takes some of the Felix Felicis that he earned in potions. It works and Harry gets the memory. He finds out what a hurcrux is and he goes to Dumbledore to tell him. Harry asks Dumbledore if he can come whith him on his next journey and Dumbledore aproves it. They are going to a cave where a hurcrux is hidden. This is not an easy task. There are allot of obsticles they have to overcome. Dumbledore gets badly injured but the manage to return to Hogwarts. They are shocked when they get back because the Dark Mark his hanging above one of the towers of Hogwarts. They use brooms to get to the tower and when they land Dumbledore casts a spell on Harry so he can't move while he is hiding. Draco Malfoy comes to the scéne and threatens Dumbledore. He says that he is going to kill him while the Death Eaters are fighting down below with some Aurors and Harrys friends. When some Death Eaters enter the tower they see that Draco has not fullfilled his task yet and when Snape joins them he does the job for Draco. Dumbledore ends up dead. After Snape, Draco and some Death Eaters have escaped Harry knows what his task in the future will be. He has to destroy the Horcrux and kill Voldemort. My Opinion: I really enjoyed reading the book. I have also read the other books so I was very curious what this one was going to bring for me. I found it very exciting and surprising. It was very good to finally understand why Snape is so hatefull and why he hates Harry so much. The same goes for the relation between Voldemort and Harry. I would recommend this book to others because it is very easy to read and you can't put it down because you have to know how it will end.
