The Book goes about Asher Lev. He is a man who’s gift is painting but his family don’t want that. So he go out in the world and he find his self, he know his name.
III. What is the theme of the novel ?
The relation between Asher Lev and his gift and his parents. The acceptation of his gift.

Yes I like it. It is very good written en a beautiful story. It is interesting to read about the Jewish community.
V. Imagine you are the writer of the book. Which passage did you write with most pleasure? Why?
When I write the things in detail. Then can the reader imagine how it is to live there, how you paint a painting. How it is to live in a Jewish community.
VI. Which character in the book do you admire / detest ? What qualities do you like / dislike? Please explain :
I admire Asher Lev because he listen to his hart and does something with his gift. But I dislike that he don’t consider his parents. He paint nudes and his parents and community don’t want that. And the last paintings are very hard for his parents of course.
VII. Think of an alternative title for this book and explain this new title.
new title : Acceptation of a hard gift.
explanation: Because he must accept his gift and the community / family must accept him and his gift.
VIII. Tell in at least 75 words how the book ends .
Asher Lev don’t know what he must painting. But then he know it and he paint the ‘Brooklyn Crucifixion’. Because it is a crucifixion the community don’t want him and expel him. And his parents are very frightened when they see what he has done. He goes to Paris to live there and there is he able to painting what he want. He is not allowed to live at home by his parents.

How could I ever paint so my mother and father? I must paint good things about them and the family. It is true that you must paint with feeling but I can’t. I can’t hurt my family. I would cancel the paintings but they hang already in the gallery. I go tell it to my parents. My mother should understand me, my father not. But I can’t bear that they don’t know what I have done and that they then see the paintings. So Asher goes to his parents. My mother cried and want to know why I this have paint. My father too. But I may clarify why I this had done and mine mother understand it. And it is a wonder but my father understand it too! So they go to the gallery and they saw the paintings. They fright but they like it too. They found that it was very good painting and now they too understand why this hang in the gallery and why people love it. So it come clear and everything will be alright.
