Summary
When he was young John Ridd heard from a friend of the family that his father was dead. The Doones murdered him. John Ridd was twelve years old and he must works at the farm of his parents. On a day he was riding through the nature of Exmoor, and he meets a girl. Her name was Lorna. He fell in love and he can’t get Lorna Doone out of his head. They cannot see eachather again because Lorna was one of the Doones. He saw Lorna again, and then he gets a message from the King. He wants information about the Doone family because they are murderers. After two months in London, staying with the King, he came back home with the information that the soldiers of the King will murder the Doones. He must save Lorna! He goes to the Doone valley and asks the father of Lorna for Lorna’s hand. It was good. Lorna goes with John to his farm and there they find a save place to stay away from the Doones. The King sends some soldiers to Exmoor. A few soldiers were staying in our house. The doones came back to get Lorna, but
the soldiers defend them well, and the Doones moved away. Then John heard the truth about Lorna. Lorna is not family of the Doones, the robbers, but from a rich family with lots of land in Scotland. She escaped from Exmoor and she was staying with a rich Uncle. The King’s soldiers were going to take the Doones to the judges. Then King Charles died; Prince James was the next king. Many people don’t like him. Lorna was in London. Soldiers said that Lorna was famous now. John was going to London because he wants to see Lorna. That evening there was three men who want to steel the money from Lorna’s rich family. John saw it and save the Uncle of Lorna from dead. The next morning John became Lord because he saves the Uncle his life. Back in Exmoor John make a plan, he promise the Doones gold in the mountains far away, they go away, and John and his man burn the village of the Doones simply flat. He did it and the Doones were murdered but only Carver Doone ran away from the battle. He died in a marsh.
10. I’d like the book very much because it’s very exciting. I normally like historic books and this is one of them. I read this book easily. There were no difficult words. You can learn about living in England about 1670. I like the part with the burning of Doone village the most. That was very exciting. The message of this book is that, if you love someone very special, you must go for her/him. That’s a good message but sometimes it’s very difficult to do that. Like John. Yes, I recommend this book to boys from 10 to 12. It’s easy enough for them.
I hope you liked my bookreport. I’d my best very well. Thank you for reading my bookreport.
