She was born in Greenock on January 24, 1946. She is a writer, she also worked at the computer company IBM. I did not know this writer yet. I have not read anything else from this writer yet. I do not think this is a great book, I can imagine that others do. The book is not entirely in my style but is fine to read. I think it is a pretty average writer.

What has happened in the story

Lissa Blythe lives with her mother and her brother Jonny and her sister Margo in an ugly little house. They are poor and that's because her father came to prison. First, they had a large house and a realm. She hates her father and never wants to see him again. But then her mother tells her he's coming home again. Her father wants to make her feel good again and he never says a mistake, but Lissa does not believe him. Because of him she has a bad life and by him she has no friends and is being bullied by Ralph Aird whose father was in the same prison.

One day, a new girl in the class, Diane Connell, will come. Because of Diane, Lissa changes in a negative way, and the worst part of the story is when Diane tells Lissa to destroy a collage of Ralph Aird, which he was very proud of, and with it he could win a prize. Lissa is doing it (which causes a lot of schooling) but she regrets and sees that Ralph no longer goes to school and does nothing more.

Her father finds out what she has done (because he secretly reads her diary) and brought her to foster her at school. She gets a week suspension and is ashamed. Diane thinks Lissa has clicked her and does not want her friend to be any longer, so Lissa still finds it worst. Now she had no more friends left.

When she returns to school she is excited by the whole class throwing dirty things and rotten tomatoes. Master Murdoch is sure that Diane has been there too and gets very angry with her Diane hates him. Lissa's father tries to find a good job, but that does not work after the imprisonment. He works with Burgers A Go Go, but does not fit. Lissa is afraid he is dealing with criminals again and he is always visited by Magnus Pierce, a criminal.

One day she goes to Pierce to tell him to leave her father alone. Then she notes that her father has no contact with Pierce, but with the police to catch Pierce. Pierce does not let her go and forces her father to come. Then the police enters the office and frees them and captures Pierce. But he will be set free soon, but after it he was found dead killed by one of his enemies

In school, Diane said that Murdoch held her fingers between the desk flap. Diane forces Lissa to lie. She does it for her friend. But tells the truth later, otherwise Murdoch would be sent from school. Diane never sees her, but Murdoch forgives her and the rest of the class too.
