Euthanasia

Our discussion is about Euthanasia, also known as mercy killing. First some facts about what euthanasia realy is. There’re different forms of euthanasia. · Euthanasia: the intentional killing by act or omission of a dependent human being for his or her alleged benefit. (The key word here is "intentional". If death is not intended, it is not an act of euthanasia) · Voluntary euthanasia: When the person who is killed has requested to be killed. · Non-voluntary: When the person who is killed made no request and gave no consent. · Involuntary euthanasia: When the person who is killed made an expressed wish to the contrary. · Assisted suicide: Someone provides an individual with the information, guidance, and means to take his or her own life with the intention that they will be used for this purpose. When it is a doctor who helps another person to kill themselves it is called "physician assisted suicide." · Euthanasia By Action: Intentionally causing a person's death by performing an action such as by giving a lethal injection. · Euthanasia By Omission: Intentionally causing death by not providing necessary and ordinary (usual and customary) care or food and water. Oregon, the Netherlands and Belgium are the only jurisdictions in the world where laws specifically permit euthanasia or assisted suicide. Oregon permits assisted suicide.(1) The Netherlands and Belgium permit both euthanasia and assisted suicide.(2) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Euthanasia; against (con): 1. It’s not ethical justified. Believers say it’s not in the hands of a human being to end a life (whenever or however they want to). 2. When a person comes to the point that they want to end their life, they’re not able to make that desicion themselve/on their own. 3. A lot of people are artaficial kept alive, because there is a chance they will wake up! So it’s not logical and ethical to ‘pull the plug’ and commit euthanasia. 4. Medical science is ment to make people better, cure diseases. To help people. Not to kill them. Weariness of life is not a medical notion.
