You: How did you spent your time during nothing hill carnival? You probably have enjoyed yourself?
Minette: You must be joking. I haven't been able to enjoy myself. I;’m not exaggerating if im telling you that this years carnival has been the worst carnival so far.it was worse then two years ago.
You: on the other hand.there have never been so many people at this carnival.
Minette: that may be so but I had a terrible experience two years ago. I was washing my clothes in the cellar when I saw a young man through the class. with dreadlocks and he was urinating against the door. He laughed and he walked away. I can’t stand that.
You: That’s ridiculous that guy shouldn't have done that of course. What are dreadlocks?
Minette: its a kind of hairdressing.
You: My parents would have phoned the police if this was happened in our case.
Minette: And then of course you have also the problem of rubbish. Shopkeepers feel forced to lock up their shops.
You:A few days ago I’ve read that a hundred twenty nine people were arrested. Nineteen persons were stabbed of whom one person died.
Minette: The people for whom it is organised might not return next year,
You: i’d like to remark that I don’t hope nothing hill carnival would be forbidden next year. More should be done to keep the carnival interesting. Maybe they could do more things against that awful rubbish and they have to put more toilets on the streets.
Minette: I fully agree with you because then there will be less trouble.
You: the government wants people to stop earlier with their parties because most of the crimes are committed late at night.
Minette: I fully agree, it will be a good idea if the people are not allowed to make music after two o clock in the morning.

You: When did Nothing Hill carnival started?
Sarah: This carnival was first organised by some west Indian immigrants who wanted others to see something of their culture in there new country, England in the city of London. That part of London is called nothing hill.
You: I’ve heard that it is a two days carnival, two days which is the first day Sunday, is called the children’s carnival. The second day, Monday is called adults carnival.
Sarah: That’s right. On Sunday te procession is a little shorter then on Monday. Did you know that this is the second biggest carnival of the world? Only the carnival of rio is bigger.
You: You don’t say! Aren’t you exaggerating a little bit? Mind you I do think that it is a enormous carnival. I saw it on tv two weeks ago. A friend of mine says that you can be crushed very easy if you are there.
Sarah: That depends. You can be crushed by the numerous people if you don’t look out and there are also big trucks that drive along in the procession. These can’t be stopped. So you should look out. Accidents happen, but not intentional.
You: On the other hand. Accidents can be expected if there are between two and three million people during the carnival. Do you know what they mean with a carnival float?
Sarah: On every start of every carnivals group there is a giant truck in amazing colours.
You: And another feature of this carnival are the dances with their wonderful suits. Most of the time they are making music which is incredibly loud. They want other people to sing and dance as well.
Sarah: Exactly, the music that is made can be very diverse this is one of the main reasons a lot of people come to see and listen this carnival.
You: the average person who comes to London to see the carnival may come by car.
Sarah: That's very unlikely. If you come by car you should have a lot of trouble. The people may come by car of course but it can be very difficult for them to park somewhere.
You: I fully agree. The undergorund will probably be the best way. On the other hand you don't have to come by the underground if you don't want to. You might also come by bus or by train.
Sarah: But the people have to know that during nothing hill carnaval everything is full and the have to be prepared to accept some discomfort.
You: Next year I’d like to see nothing hill carnaval.
Sarah: I live in nothing hill and you can stay with me for a few days if you want. Through the windows in my apartment you can see everything! Do we have a deal?
You: yes of course.!
