Advantages and disadvantages of making voting compulsory

Title Everyone should vote!

PS currently voting is not compulsory and because of this there are some people who do not vote. S1 On the one hand, politicians and people who highly care for democracy think that voting should be compulsory. S2 On the other hand, people who do not care about politics think that voting should not be compulsory. TS This essay will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of making voting compulsory.

TPS This paragraph will discuss the advantages of making voting compulsory. A1 First of all, by having everyone vote, the whole society is represented in the government. E1 Everyone’s opinion is involved and matters and this way the government will better do what society wants. A2 Furthermore, by making voting compulsory people will be more positive about politics. E2 Most people will have a more positive attitude towards the decisions made in politics because this is caused by what everyone voted for. A3 Finally, making voting compulsory will force people to educate themselves about politics and issues in the country. E3 If more people in a country educate themselves, this will improve society. SS In short, voting should be compulsory because this will improve society by making people educate themselves, feel represented and be more positive about the government.

TPS This paragraph will discuss the disadvantages of making voting compulsory. A1 In the first place, uneducated people do not know what they are voting for. E2 Not everybody knows a lot about politics, if those people are forced to vote, they might make mistakes and vote for the wrong people or they have no clue what they are actually voting for. A2 Moreover, some people do not care about politics and they might vote randomly. E2 If someone who does not care about politics at all is forced to vote, they could just cross a random box or choose whatever their friends and/or family chose. A3 On top of that, not everyone is able to vote due to mental illness. For example people who suffer from dementia, schizophrenia or people who hear voices. Due to their mental illness, they are not able to vote correctly. SS In short, some people are not able to vote like people who have certain mental illnesses, people who do not care about politics and people who are uneducated on politics.

EP The purpose of this essay was to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of making voting compulsory. SUM All in all, while making voting compulsory will improve society in many ways like making people educate themselves, making them more positive and they feel represented in the government. At the other hand, not everyone is able to vote correctly, for example people who do not know anything about politics, people who do not care about politics or people who have certain mental disorders. PO In my opinion voting should not be compulsory since you should not force people to vote if they do not want to. FS In future, voting will hopefully not be compulsory and only educated people will vote.
