The characterization is very interesting and realistic. Each of them is special and very different. Together, they seem to make one person, but they all change in their own way. Bridget who was always strong, wants to have fun after her mom committed suicide. But she takes this too far and regrets it. Lena who was always shy, meets the boy of her dreams, Kostos, and starts to become more courageous and outgoing. Carmen finds out her dad has a new family, but in the end, learns to appreciate them. Tibby, learns to enjoy life, and instead of rebelling against everything to just enjoy it, after her new friend Bailey died. But the best thing about the book has to be the diversity. You can be going from laughing to crying in just a couple of pages. Also the girls are all very different, so that every reader can probably relate to at least one of them. It covers many different subjects, from death to love, and from friendship to forgiveness. The book is just telling everyone that as long as you have friends, you'll pull through and also to love life. All the girls seem to have their good times and bad ones. But with each other's help, they get through. Overall it's a cute book. that reads fast, and appeals to all girls over 12.
