The book is a novel. It is written by Susan Eloise Hinton. S.E. Hinton, was and still is, one of the most popular and best known writers of young adult fiction. Her books have been taught in some schools, and banned from others. Her novels changed the way people look at young adult literature. She is born in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her husband David. Her son Nick is away for college. S.E Hinton was becoming known as "The Voice of the Youth". She published this books (That Was Then, This Is Now , Rumble Fish , Tex , Taming The Star Runner , Big David, Little David , The Puppy sisters). By the time she was 17 years old, Susan Eloise Hinton was a published author. While still in high school in her hometown—Tulsa, Oklahoma—Hinton put in words what she saw and felt growing up and called it The Outsiders, a now classic story of two sets of high school rivals, the Greasers and the Socs (for society kids). Because her hero was a Greaser and outsider, and her tale was one of gritty realism, Hinton launched a revolution in young adult literature. . The most important character is ponyboy Curtis who is the one who tells the whole story. He wanted to look like Paul Newman he look tough. Ponyboy has light-brown, almost red hair and greenish gray-eyes and realy long hair.His second-oldest brother is Soda, who is sixteen, never reads books.His oldest brother is Darrel, he were called darry, who is 20 years, he works to much and to hard to be interested in books. Dallas plays an important role when the boys are out of town. Dallas Winston had small,sharp animal theet. His hair was almost white and he did not like haircuts.His eyes were like bleu ice, cold from hating the whole wrold. Jhonny he was like a puppy who has been kicked too many times. He was the youngest,next to ponyboy and smaller than the rest. He had black eyes and black greasy hair he always had anervous lookin his eyes. His father always beating him and his mother ignored him. All this characters are flat characters, they do not change in the story or surprise you but Ponyboy Curtis he change. In the biginning he is a litle boy but in the and he is almost the leader of grasers and a hero not just a litle boy. . The story takes place in america , in a city near the litle place windrixville. The type of people are very different you have the west-side rich kids who are called the Socs (socials) and than you have East-side who are poorer and wilder they called the greasers. The greasers steal things and drive old cars hold up gas stations and have a gang fight once in a while. The greasers has plenty of time because the work al lot while Socs are rich drive mustangs and have good grades.They have much a time the have notting to do so they drink and beats up the greasers for entraitament. The story takes place in the time of Elvis presley and the Beatles.The time is covered whit flashbacks about 5 years. . the theme of the book must be the fight of two groups how do not accept eachother so is important to accept each other and stop fighting because it get’s onley worser people are getting killed so many people die young everybody feeling badly cry tears of pain inside.but I think the theme is friendship and love,the frienship between jhonny and ponyboy he did want that the people know that jhonny was the killer of Bob and the love between dallas en jhonny and between pony boy and his brothers who worked so hard to be wich eachother. . The titel The Outsiders is about the Greasers. They are the outsiders who are the enemy’s of the Socs. The Socs are the normal Americans, just like every American shoult be but the Greasers are poor. They are the outsiders of the civilisation. . there are two incident l found very important the day the church was on fire there were people having a schoolpicnic with litle kids maybe it the church was burning because the greasers dropped a lighted cigarette or something. The heard some of the kids are missing there are in the church so the tree boy’s runed an climed in to the church and save each kid. Jhonny and dally were very badly wonded ,the hand of dally was burned , a piece of wood fell across the back of jhonny his was so badly that at the and he died.l found this important because of this happening the bacame heroes they had won respect of the society and now every body know hoe they really are.and l find the big fight between the graesers, the hood whit the socs important , because it was a key to stop the fighting and the hating between those group. . O my god I really enjoyed of these book l felt like l was in it when l was reading l siriously felt like l was there watching everthing.l also felt when jhonny died l could not believe it l thought ponyboy dreamed it but no it was treu he died.l was mad at my self l cry if my mom don’t give me what l want ore hits me but there are children who has it worser than me.Ponyboy he havent got parents, jhonny he’s mom and dad did not carried about him and he is been beated up by his father and the socs,dally is broken when jhonny died that al he had so he found a way to kill him self ,darry must to take al responsibility he has two job and everything,soda who does not go to school so he can work so his little brother can go to school. . l liked the way it was writen because it was very easy to read l did not have trouble with that I olso understood everything accept one word but l do not remember. . l recommend this book to a friend yes l really do it’s good to see outher kinds of leaving ,to learn apryciate what you have got and see what you do not known.

l heared you you’re homboyz steals and drive old cars and hold up gas stations and have a gang fight once in a while is that true do you olso do that things?
-No, l could not do those things Darry would kill me if l got into trouble with the police. Since mom and dad were killed in a car wreck, the three of us can stay out of trouble as much as we can. We are careful not to get caughtw when we can’t. It is true what there saying that what the most greasers do. Just like we wear our hair long and dress in bleu jeans and T-shirts or leather jackets.
Darry is you oldest brother how does he treat you?
-Well at first l thought darry did not love me and did not love anything or anyone, except maybe Soda.l thought of those hard eyes, cold eyes. Soda said to me once “when darry shouts at you … does not mean it. He is just got more worries than sombody of his age should. Do not take him seriously… you anderstand, pony? He is really proud of you because you are so smart. Okay?” l sighed. l did not anderstand what he meant about Darry. Till the day l was in the hospital I was thinking darry did not like me… he had made me run away that night… he had hit me… Darry shouted to me all the time… he did not car about me… suddenley l realized that Darry was crying. L did not seen him crying in years, not even when dad and mom had been killed. Ln dat second , l understood what soda had been trying to tell me. Darry did care about me, as much as he cared about soda. And because he cared , he was trying too hard to make something of me. When he shouted , “Pony, where have you been all this time?” he meant,”Pony you scared me to death. Please be careful, because l don’t want anything happen to you.”
Who did dally died?
-When l told Dallas jhonny has died he ran out. He could not take it. How can l take it? L wondered. Dally is tougher than l am. Why can l take it when Dally can’t? But than l kwen. Jhonny was the onley thing Dally loved. And now Jhonny was gone.So he finally broke. Than he called and he hang up quickley. He is just held up a drugstore and the police are after him. Than we ran out the house then we heard a siren it was the police who had jumped out the car. Darry stop under the street lamp.He turned and pulled gun wich is not loaded out of his jacket. Than he raised the gun and policemans start to shooting, l knew that is wat Dally wanted.Dally Winston wanted to be dead and he always got what he wanted.
a few years ago you said to everybody you had killed Bob is that treu?
-well l knew Jhonny was dead. I had known it all the time, even while l was sick and pretending he wasn’t. lt was Jhonny ,not me, who had killed bob. l kwew that too. L had just thought that maybe if l pretended that jhonny wasn’t dead, lt wouldn’t hurt so much. But it still hurt anyway.lf you know a guy really well,you don’t get used to the idea that he is dead overnight.Jhonny was something more than a friend to all of us . And l could noet forget him telling me he had not done enough. He had not brrn out of the neighborhood all this life, and now it is too late.
