To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, she has endured a tumultuous year of temptation, loss and strife to reach the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fate of two tribes hangs.

Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating and unfathomable consequences. Just when the frayed strands of Bella’s life - first discovered in Twlight, then scattered and torn in New Moon and Eclipse - seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed… Forever?

Book Report Worksheet

1. A short description
The story is about a human girl and a vampire boy, who fall in love with each other. Breaking Dawn is the fourth and last part of the Twilight Saga.
Bella and Edward are going to marry. A few days after their honeymoon, Bella finds out that she’s pregnant. The baby almost kills Bella, but Edward diced that it’s time for her transformation. Bella becomes a vampire and that saves her live. The baby, Renesmee, is half vampire half human. The Volturi (a group of vampires who execute the laws) comes after Renesmee. Edward’s family and friends could stop the Volturi from killing Renesmee. That’s the start of their happy forever.

The Plot
1. Inciting incident
Breaking dawn starts with the wedding of Bella and Edward.

Alice, Edward’s vampire ‘sister’, helps Bella the whole day making her ready. She does her hair, make-up and the dress. Even Rosalie, another vampire ‘sister’, helps too. Then when everything is ready, Bella goes down stair toward Edward. And so the wedding starts.
The part before the wedding is an introduction to the story. Edward has a bachelor party and Bella has a lonely night.

2. The progress of the rising action
Bella and Edward have a very good time with Renesmee. But then, when Irina sees Renesmee she goes to the Volturi. She thinks it’s an immortal child and that’s not allowed. The cullens try to find a way out, but its very difficult. Irina’s family comes to help. Alice and Jasper disappear without a goodbye. The other Cullens try to find other friends to help as witnesses. Edward and Bella convince a lot of friends to help. The time passes. They go every day to the clearing to look out for the Volturi.
Finally they come and the fight begins.

3. The climax
The climax of this book is the confrontation between the Volturi and the Cullens. Aro and Edward talk to each other. The Volturi wants to kill the immortal child, but she isn’t immortal. Aro and Edward got back to there family. They deliberate. Edward says that the Volturi won’t listen and without warning will attack. Bella goes with Edward and Renesmee to Jacob. They send Renesmee away with Jacob and return to the others. Bella has to protect two people with her shield, but at once she understands her shield. She could protect everyone. Jane, a girl from the Volturi, tries to attack, but no one feels anything.

4. The resolution
The resolution of the story starts in the middle of the confrontation between the Volturi and the Cullens. Even Alec attacks the Cullens. Then out of nowhere Alice appears. She brings someone else with her. Kachiri is half human half vampire just like Renesmee. Finally the Volturi are convinced, but it was a sort of trick. They use this to kill Irina.

Characterisation
1. Description of the protagonist
Bella is the main character of the story. She has long, brown hair and a pail skin. She is very sensitive. Bella thinks only of other people or what she did wrong. At Bella’s birthday the Cullens made a surprise party for her, but she doesn’t like parties.

2. Description of two minor characters
There are a lot of minor characters in breaking dawn. I choose two very different minor characters, Alice and Angela.
Alice is Edward’s vampire sister. She can see in future. She sees things on what people decided to do. Alice and Bella are very good friends and they do a lot together. Alice took care of the wedding for Bella and Edward.

Angela is Bella’s friend at school. She doesn’t know any thing about vampire’s and werewolves. It is a very shy girl, who’s very nice for everyone. Despite of Jessica she forgives Bella after her depressive period.

Point of view
Breaking dawn is split in three parts. All the parts are written in the first person.
The first part is through the eyes of Bella. For example: ‘One step at a time, I told myself as we began to descend to the slow tempo of the march.’
Bella’s best friend, Jacob, tells the second part. Through his eyes you see Bella’s pregnancy and the other problems.
Bella again tells the last part. You see how it is for her to wake up as a vampire and how she feels when the Volturi comes.

General Questions
1. Personal response
I think this book was really great. I like reading and I already read the Twilight saga four times. Stephenie Meyer describes things very good. It’s very easy to feel what Bella feels. And even the vampires are good described. I like this way of pretending how vampires are. It’s not so bloody. The whole sage comes in this book to an end. It’s an original end, because vampires live forever.

2. The main theme
Love. Love is through the whole saga very important. Bella and Edward married, because they love each other. Bella got pregnant of Edward and they get their child Renesmee.

3. A simile, a metaphor and onomatopoeia
A simile: “They spun like little planets, moving around each other in a celestial dance.” Page 387.
A metaphor: “I touched the cool miracle of his skin, and I was home.”
Page 49.
Onomatopoeia: “yewwo!” Charlie crowed. Page 153
