Korte samenvatting van de inhoud The book begins when Kerry is in class. School is almost over. Kerry’s stomic starts to churn when school is almost over. Because outside would be Billy Taggart and his gang. They bullied Kerry. After school on her way home, they would get her. Just inside the park they would pounce on her. Call her ‘Kerry Cripple’ and stuff like that. Kerry was new at school. She had lived there only for a few months. They had moved after Kerry and her mother had had a car accident. Her mother was not injured but Kerry’s leg was stucked in the car. Now she was crippled. That was the reason why Billy Taggart bullied her. Kerry used to be a good athlete. She looks through some old pictures of herself as a young athlete. There’s also a newspaper in the box. There’s an article about Kerry in it. She looks through the paper and reads an article about a man who robs old ladies. He’s been caught and is in prison. She reads the name and finds out that it’s Billy Taggart’s father. The next day Kerry goes to Billy. She tells him what she has found out. Now she has Billy in control. He must do everything she says or else she will tell the whole school about his secret. At the beginning it is nice to have Billy in her power. But after some time she gets scared again. Wayne, a friend of Billy’s, tries to find out what Billy’s secret is. He starts bullying Kerry again. Kerry wants to go to Billy, but he is not a school anymore. Nobody knows where he has gone to. Kerry has no defence anymore. She goes into town to find Billy. She finds him. He lives with his mother in a ramshackle house. His mother is very ill, so he runs the housekeeping. Kerry talks with Billy about Wayne. Billy says that the only way to stop Billy is to show him no fear. Hit back once, and he’ll leave you alone. This is not easy for Kerry. Wayne is a lot bigger and stronger. And let’s not forget, Kerry is crippled. After a while Kerry knows what she is going to do. She will wait in the bushes and then do a surprise attack. Wayne cycles through the park across from her house every day. The park where they bullied her after school. She will wait there. When she sees Wayne coming she prepares for the attack. When he is right in front of her, she jumps out of the bushes on to Wayne’s his bicycle. Wayne falls off his bike after which the bike falls on top of him. Kerry hits and hits him and Wayne moans with pain. Then Kerry is pulled away from Wayne. It’s her father, he had seen it from his car. He helps Wayne get up. Kerry would get punished for what she had done. She was going to pay for what she had done. But it would be worth it. she would never forget that moment, the sweetness of that moment ould never be taken from her.
