Bettie, the cow

Just behind a small town in the middle of nowhere lives a cow together with her family. Her name is Bettie. Bettie is a six years old cow that lives at the farm. She is really bored at the farm and wants to see more of the world. So she tells her friend that she’s going to run away from the farm. “Boeeeh?! Why?!” her friends ask. “Boooeh, because it’s so boring to graze day in day out, it’s always the same!” says Bettie. “ I want something different!” Her friends look surprised. “ Something different!? Boeeh?!” The oldest and wisest cow sais: “booeeh, Bettie, stupid, stupid Bettie! We cows can’t live in the big world! We are farm animals!” But Bettie wouldn’t listen.

The next morning she sneaks out of the cowshed. “boeeeh! I will miss you guy’s!” whispered Bettie when they other cows still sleep. When she passes through the gate, she feels happy. She says softly, ”booeh! I am free, I am a free cow!” and she runs into the wide world. After a few hours walking, Bettie get’s tired. In the distance, she sees a small stable. “Maybe I could stay there fore a while, boeeh?” So she walks to the stable. When she arrives she sees some horses. “Hello? May I stay here for a night please, boeeh?” asks Bettie. The horses start laughing. “Look guys, the fat cow is asking something, hihiha! Bettie looks humiliated. One of the horses gets sympathy. “ Maybe we have some place for you, hihiha” “thanks, booeeh!” said Bettie. The other horses look mockingly at Bettie. “See you later pork belly!” “hihiha, no, no! See you later HAMBURGER!” they laugh. For the first time Bettie misses her old farm.

That morning at the farm:

When the friends of Bettie wake up, they found out Bettie was gone. ”Guys! Boeeeh! Guys! Bettie is gone!” said Bettie’s best friend Bella. “What? Boeeh!?! Do you mean she is not here?! That she’s run away!? Said the mother of Bettie. “Yes, I think that’s the what is meant by: Bettie is gone, yes” “OOH gosh! Ooh NO! Why didn’t we stop here!? Boeeh!” Bella get’s irritated. “Easy! We will find her, she can’t be that fare away! Right?....” So Bettie’s mum, Bella and 2 other cows walk through the gate, looking for Bettie.

At the stable:

At the time Bettie woke, she heard the horses laughing. “What is so funny? Why are they laughing so early in the morning?” Bettie walks out the stable. The sun shines brightly. “ Hihiha, Good morning, cow!” says the nice horse.“ Good morning! Why are they laughing? Boeeh?” “They laugh at the dressage, it looks really ridiculous!”

“Come with me, I will show you!”. Bettie goes along with the horse. “By the way, my name is Gerda! Hihiha, and you’re name is?” “Bettie” mumbles Bettie. When they arrive, the other horses are still laughing. Bettie looks horrified at the horses. “WHY ARE YOU GUYS SO MEAN?! boeeh!” Bettie gets angry. “Don’t you guys have something you’re good at?” “Are other people laughing about that too? How do you think it feels to be laughed out?” the horses are quiet. “Maybe you’re right, maybe we have gone a little too far! hihiha” At that moment Bettie sees 5 cows. “Are that…?” “BETTIE, boeeh!!!” Bella greets her best friend out loud. “ We mist you so much!” “Who are those horses?” Bettie looks at the horses “boeeh! Those are my, my …” “we are here friends” says Gerda.

Bettie made new friends and goes back to the stable, where she lived happily ever after.
