Our presentation is about candy. There are many kinds of candy, everybody eats it. We are going to tell you about English liquorice.
English liquorice are a lot of kinds of candy and colours mixed. The most important ingredients are liquorice and sugar. There was also a lot of gelatin in the English liquorice.
It was produced for the first time in Sheffield, England. The name has got the name of the original country where it come from.
Now is it produced almost everywhere, the most in Europe and North America. It’s there most popular.
How liquorice came into existence;
There was a man and he mixed (not on purpose) a few kinds of candy in the shop, when there was a customer. The costumer bought it, and they liked it a lot! It happened in England, so they called it English liquorice.
Liquorice in our country.
In our land almost everyone likes liquorice, you can buy it almost everywhere; the supermarket, the chamist’s shop, filling station. There aren’t very many people abroad who know about our liquorice. Especially in the south they don’t know about it. In a lot of country’s they think candy must be sweet, and with a lot of colours.
They don’t like black and salt at all. That’s why we’re almost the only country that produces liquorice.
Some people say we like it so much because our country is at the cost. That would also be the reason we like another salt products (like salt fish.) Maybe it’s true...
But now, also abroad more people like liquorice. Immigrant people let their family send a lot of liquorice. That’s how people abroad learned what liquorice is. On this moment our liquorice is exported to; Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, England, Finland, France, Ireland, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Dutch Antilles, Norway, Spain, Thailand, United States, Iceland, South-Africa, Sweden and Swiss.
But it’s easier to get your own liquorice with you. Altogether we eat around the thirty-one thousand tons a year!
