Orlando Bloom

My talk is about Orlando Bloom. I chose this subject, because I’ve seen Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean, and I think he is a great actor. The movies he is playing in, are exiting with a good story, and I like that too. Biography He was born on the 13th of January, 1977 in Canterbury, England. So, now he is 26 years old. In 1993 he moved to London, because he really wanted to become an actor, and he thought he would have more luck in London than in Canterbury with his career. He was lucky, and he played in a series called: “Casualty” He played in this series for two years, and then he went to the theatre school. After finishing theatre school, he played a part in a movie. With that part his first familiarity came up. He also won some awards, but they were not that important, or big. He became popular in 1999, when the first Lord of the Rings movie was published. Now he lives, when he’s not working, in London and in Los Angeles. He’s also got some strange habits, like breaking bones. He's broken his back, his ribs, his nose, his legs, his arm, his wrist, a finger and a toe, and cracked his skull three times! Characters He plays a lot of different characters. For example: the weapon smith Will Turner, in Pirates of the Caribbean, the curse of the black pearl. In that movie, he plays together with Johnny Depp, his Idol. The story is about a crew from some kind of ghost ship, the black pearl. People always told each other stories about it, like it’s a myth. But, when the king’s daughter is kidnapped by Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp, they see it’s a real thing. He had also played Legolas, the elfenprince in Lord of the Rings. He originally auditioned for the part of Faramir, Boromir’s brother, who wouldn’t be introduced in the movie until the Two Towers. He was turned down for that part, but then was asked to do audition for Legolas. Legolas has got long, blonde hair, and bright blue eyes. Orlando had got brown hair and brown eyes, so a total different look. He learned how to ride a horseback, while shooting an arrow, and how to fight with two swords. He also had to learn the elfish way of speaking. Lord of the Rings is about a young Hobbit, played by Elijah Wood. His father gave him the ring of Sauron, the Lord of the darkness, and he tells him he has to protect it. Because, if Sauron gets the ring back, darkness will rule the world. He makes a fellowship, and with them, he wants to return the ring to the mountain of Doom, only there it can be destroyed. It is a dangerous road, with a lot of Saurons followers keeping their eyes on them. Now I want to show you a part of the movie Lord of the Rings. Bekendheid - familiarity
