This presentation is about flat tv’ s
Picture this. A tv so flat you can hang it on the wall just like a painting. A tv that gives sensational, almost lifesize- pictures. That picture in your mind has actually become reality. A few years ago Philips announced the launch of Flat TV, which had changed the perception of TV in the living room.
The Flat TV is developed by the PALC-technology, which stands for Plasma Adressed Liquid Crystal.
Between the two glassplates there is a space of 0,1 mm containing a special gas where ultraviolet rays are generated. The rays activate the Red, Green and Blue phosphors. Now each of the primary colours is seen as a visible light. These lights are manipulated again and are reproduced on the Flat TV front screen to show you the greatest entertainment. The Flat TV also uses the Dolby Pro Logic Sound System with 15 speakers and the ability to reach 220 Watts.
The machine provides life-size images with its large 42-inch widescreen format and its depth of only 115 mm. Maybe it’s a bit difficult to understand how this all works, but in the end it brings us a sharp, clear and bright picture, and that’s what it’s all about. Besides a lot of new technologies the Flat TV also contains a lot of new possibilities for multimedia presentations, games, and as well for the businessmen/ women as the normal user.
The two most familiar TV fabricators, Philips and Sony, brought the first versions on the European market in 1998. Although the prices are too high for the regular consumer, 20000 guilders, they expect to have sold about one million sets all over the world near the year 2000. And of course, the prices will go down when the technologies get better and cheaper. Until then, I guess we’ll all have to settle for a normal TV! (Hahaha, duh)
