Hello everybody. My presentation is about English Waltz. The Waltz is one of the five dances in de standard category of the international Style ballroom dances. The English waltz is a slow dance in which much is rotated.
I have chosen this subject because I am going take ballroom dancing classes next year by Schröder and than I can want to learn this dance.
First I want to tell you about the creation of the dance. The second thing I will tell about is how to dance the Englisch Waltz and the last thing I want to tell about is on what kind of music you can dance the Englisch Waltz.
The forerunner of the English Walts was the Bosten. The Boston was introduced in 1874 from America to England, where he was very popular in 1922. The English Waltz has got his definitely form in 1926, after the first world war. It is a romantic and beautiful dance. The dance has a lot of running and spinning. The Waltz is a great physical effort for the dancers. The couples dance beautifully and it seems like they are flying and floating. The dance competition are always opened with the English Waltz. Every time there is a dance competition, it will be opened with the Englisch Waltz. The couples will use the whole floor to dance on.
The Rule of the dance is: Walk, side and close. That’s all you do. It looks easy but it is quite difficult if you dance this very fast.
There are different types of songs where you can dance the English Waltz on. If I go dance by schröder, I will dance the waltz on:
Curtin Stigers – Wonder Why
Bob Dylan – When the deal goes down
Jason Mraz – I won’t give up
There are more numbers, but young people like us like it more when they dance on popular songs/numbers.
