The lord of the rings: The return of the king (2003)

Review of Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King had been written by J.R. Tolkien, during the Second World War. The movie is based upon the book and is the third and last part of a trilogy. The movie was directed by Peter Jackson in the year 2000 and 2001. All the three movies were made after eachother in only one and a half years. The Return of the King is a fantasy movie with a lot of action in it, but also a lot of drama and tragedy. There are a lot of famous actors starring in the movie, like Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom, Chistopher Lee, Elijah Wood and many others. The books are very well known and so is the movie. Almost everyone has heard something about. The story takes place in a fantasy world called Middle Earth. Middle Earth is inhabited by humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, wizards, goblins and also the creatures of Saruman, called the Uruk Hai. There are a lot of main characters, but the most important I shall mention below: Frodo: He is the ringbearer. His task is to carry the ring to Mount Doom to destroy it there. Frodo is played by Elijah Wood and he is a small Hobbit with a great will and personality. Sam: He is with Frodo all the time and helps him where he can. Sam is played by Sean Austin and is also a small Hobbit. Aragorn: He is a ranger and is the "strongest" character and also the king of the humans. Aragorn is played by Viggo Mortensen and he is a strong person with great leadership and a strong personality. Sauron: He is the badguy of the story. He created the ring to rule them all and wants to stop Frodo from destroying it. In the beginning, Sauron and all the other leaders of the races made rings. But in secret, Sauron made a ring to rule over all the other rings. He defeated race after race, and soon half Middel Earth was under controll of Sauron. Then the humans and elves made one final attack, and they won. The former king called Isildur chopped of Sauron's hand and took possession of The One Ring. Over thousands of years, the ring changed from owner frequently, untill it eventually came to Frodo. Gandalf, the good wizard, gave him the task to go to the elves in Rivendell, and there the Fellowship of the Ring was made with the task to destroy the ring. That is the beginning of the story, and also the first movie. The third movie is of course the conclusion of the whole story, I shall tell what happens: Frodo and Sam are still seperated from the others and continue their journey, as they are being guided by the still evil Gollem. Gollem leds the Hobbits to the caves of a Giant Spider called Shelob and hopes she kills them. In fact she only stuns Frodo and Sam kills Shelob. Frodo is taken to an Orc base, and Sam rescues him. Meanwhile Gandalf goes to the Human city of Minas Tirith, where he prepares the defenses of the city for the massive attack of Sauron. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli travel to the mountains where they have to gather the army of the dead to help them. Eventually they go to Minas Tirith with the army of the dead and defeat Sauron there, and they march to the black gates, which is the beginning of the land of Sauron. They launch one final attack to give Frodo and Sam enough time to destroy the Ring. Everntually Frodo and Sam make it to the top and then there is a fight between Gollem and Frodo. Gollem falls into Mount Doom with the Ring, and the Ring is destroyed, and so is Gollem. The End. I enjoyed the movie very much, because I already liked the first two movies, and the end of a trilogy is always exciting, because it ends the story. It was very exciting, especially the fight with Shelob the Spider and the big attack of Sauron near the city of Minas Tirith. I would recommend this movie to anyone who can read this, because you must see it. It is very exciting, and also full of comedy and drama. There isn't even one minute I didn't like.
