1.a. Leading character:
John Walker: he is the oldest of the walker children and take de lead of the ship he is the captain.
1.b.John Walker has short hair you can see that at the picture at page 51 you can’t find anything else in the book about his look but I think he is round the age of 15
1.c. I think he is very brave because he is the captain of the ship and he sails to Holland safely.
2.a. The story happened at Pin mill, Shotley, Harwich(England), the north sea and at Flushing (Holland).
Pin mill: page 1 they had arrived at Pin mill yesterday

Harwich: page 13 soon the river became wider and they sailed into Harwich harbour
the north sea: page 22 – 62 the story plays at the north sea
Flushing: page 52 the ferry from Flushing to Harwich
2.b. I think the story plays round 1937 because nowadays the are no telegrams anymore.
3.a. Coming home, page 69 - 73 the four walker children John, Susan, Titty, Roger, father (Ted) and Jim brading are sailing to pin mill and there they see there mother (mary) and there little sister Bridget. they all want to tell everything to mother about what was happened. But they all knew mother was very angry because they promised to be home yesterday. roger said that they were in Holland but she think that he made a joke and then they told that they had saved a young cat at the north sea. mother saw the cat and then father she didn’t understand she was so happy. father says to mother that she mustn’t be to hard on them they didn’t mean to go to sea. Mother is still angry and didn’t know what was happened and father explains everything.
3.b. the next morning daddy wake them up and they get into their clothes and they came on deck. The sun was shinning then they heard a hard scream, john screamed daddy fell over board and john tray to save him but he didn’t succeed, he cant find daddy john was in panic and he knew daddy was drowned.
Susan helped john on board an then they cried. then they sailed home to pin mill they saw mother and tell her everything about what was happened, about the storm and the fog, and when they drift away and about Holland and daddy. Then mother became very angry she blamed them that daddy died and then they cried. then they all going home for some sleep. But they didn’t know that mother had a gun. Mother is going to shoot them all in their sleep and then she shot herself.
4.They are holidaying in the neighbourhood of Harwich. They make friends with Jim Brading, owner of the Goblin, from the moment when Jim invites them all to sleep aboard their adventure begins.
There would have been no adventure at all if Jim, who went ashore, had come back as they had expected him to do, or if John, who was left in charge, had realised that an anchor which is long enough when the tide begins to rise is no good when there's twice as much water under the ship.
They lost that anchor; they drifted out to sea in a fog, the wind began to blow them east by a little south, and John made up his mind, very wisely, that the only safe thing was to keep on sailing.
There voyage which ended in Holland, of the rain and the wind, the darkness and the wild water, the escapes from buoys and from ships crossing in the night. then they met their father in Holland and they are sailing home with their father. When they arrived home at Pin mill they knew what was happened with Jim Brading he had an accident in the bus and came in the hospital. then they are going to meet mother and their little sister Bridget and tell them the whole story what was happened. And then they are going for a lunch.
