6 Describe the main characters

- Braithwaite is a negro, he has black hair, and brown eyes. His character is: nice and patient with his pupils. His age isn’t mentioned in this book but I think about thirty years old. About family relations isn’t anything told in this book, but he has a relation with Gillion Blanchard. He is a teacher at Greenslade school. And he is the main character of the book.

- Gillian Blanchard is a women who get a relationship with Braithwaite. She gives also lesions at Greenslade school. The age isn’t mentioned but probably has she the same age if Braithwaite. She is nice and don’t accept the discrimination of Braithwaite. About the family relations and the appearance of Gillion isn’t anything told.
- Pamela she is a pupil of Braithwaite, she is eleven years old and she is falling in love with Braithwaite. Her character is brave, because: she is taking up for Braithwaite when he is discriminated. About her appearance and family relation isn’t anything mentioned.
7 Scene of action

It takes place in London, at the greenslade school and in the neighbour of it.

8 Time of action

There is a flashback in the book, in the first chapters you read that he get a job and then is there a flashback: in 1945 after the Second World War he thought there were many jobs but he didn’t get a job about his skin colour. And after that chapter is goes on with the first chapters.

9. Point of view/ who is the narrator?

The whole story is told through Braithwaite.

10 explain the title

At the end of the story he gets a parcel with the message: TO SIR, WITH LOVE and underneath, the signatures of all of the students, so I think that the title something about the character of Braithwaite tells because he was a men with love.

11 Plot

- he goes to London because he is looking for a job as engineer, but every time he don’t get the job because he is black. At the end he is desperate because he doesn’t get the job. Then he go to the park, he is watching the ducks. He met an old men who said: ‘you must become teacher’ and he became teacher and got the job at greenslade school.

- In the begin the class was very annoying, but through his way of giving lesson, they were very nice. Braithwaite can now very good hurry up with his class.

- Braithwaite would meet a very beautiful and nice lady called Gillian Blanchard. She came with Braithwaite and his class to a museum.

- Braithwaite would be many times discriminated for example in the restaurant. Braithwaite was in a restaurant with Gillian, because she celebrated her birthday. Braithwaite was discriminated through the waiter of the restaurant. Gillian gets angry at Braithwaite, because he didn’t say anything to the waiter. Braithwaite said to Gillian: it didn’t help.

- On a day Seal was absent, because his mother was died. Braithwaite and his class collect for flowers. But nobody wants to bring the flowers to Seal, because Seal has a coloured skin colour. Braithwaite was very disappointed in his class. When Braithwaite came to the house of Seal, he saw the whole class was there. Braithwaite were very happy of this event.

- When the end of the years was coming, the children of Braithwaite’s class made a parcel with a letter of thank. On this letter stand all the signatures of all the children. Also on this letter stand: “To sir, with love”.
