The Secret of the Stones.
Author: David Sharpe
Producer: Meulenhoff Educatief
Number of pages: thirty-one
Short outline:
Sue and Paul were travelling by coach from Lancaster to Southampton. But suddenly the coach was broken. And they couldn’t go further with that coach and it would take an hour before another coach come.
So they decided to go to the Stonehenge, which was about a ten-minute walk. They had to climb over two fences before they were by the stones.
Then they saw a stone with a face on it. And when they where crouches by that stones they suddenly where in another time where were no fences and no sound of traffic.
They knew that they had travelled throw time. Then there came a horseman and they took his weapons away from him when he was going to sleep. Then they travelled again throw time when they pushed their hands on the surface of the stone with “the face”.
They were in another time again. Where a little girl was, that was very frightening. Then there was suddenly a very big beast. Sue and Paul defended themselves with their weapons and had to kill it. Than they travelled back to there own time and running to the coach.
Main characters:
The main characters are Sue and Paul, because the whole story is about them. I think Sue is a self-willed and curious character, because it was here idea to climb over those two fences.
And I think Paul is only curious, because he asked himself all the time why the Stonehenge was build.
My opinion:
I think that this book is a little bit boring, because there is not so much difference in the story.
But the better things are that it is easy to read and the main characters are smart and curious and that is what it makes it less boring.
Genre:
The genre is adventure, because the story is about travelling throw time and I think that makes it an adventure. And when they fighting with a very big beast and they stool weapons off a horseman. Another reason is that it took place in the nature far away from the live in world.
Explain the title:
The title is The Secret of the Stones, because nobody knows why those stones are there in that circle.
Would you advise your friend to read it?
No, I won’t, because this book is not so special and it is a little bit boring.
The most interesting of the book:
The most interesting off the book is when they must beat that big beast, because you didn’t knew at that moment what there would really happen and I like action and I like thrilling tense. It was thrilling when Paul felt at the ground and that the beast was very near.
