The graduate

A1.) Webb, Charles, The Graduate, United States of America, World Publishing Co., 1963.

B1.) Liver, Tulip farms and leper colonies, New cardiff, Reading the water, Have no fear, and many others.

C1.) The theme of the book is having an affair, some sub-theme’s can be love or relationships.
C2.) Benjamin Braddock, the graduate, feels kinda uncertain about his future. He starts an affair with Mrs Robinsom but later he falls in love with her doughter Elaine.; Mrs Robinson, an older married woman, who starts an affair with benjamin after she seduced him. If Benjamin starts going out with her doughter she can’t have it and takes revenge.; Elaine, doughter of Mrs Robinson, she gets shocked when she finds out that Benjamin had an affair with her mother. She gets uncertain when Benjamin wants to marry her but at the end of the story she decides to go with him.
C3.) Benjamin starts an affair with Mrs Robinson. That lasts for a pretty long time. But when Elaine gets into the story, Benjamin has a fight with Mrs Robinson and they kinda ‘break up’. Benjamin goes out with Elaine and falls in love with her.
C4.) The story is situated in Benjamin’s house, Mrs Robinson’s house, Berkeley and Santa Barbara.
C5.) Rich, they have great houses with gardens and a pool in it.
C6.) The story takes place a very long time ago but could be happened today. There can’t be found an exact time description, but it starts in june.

D1.) It’s a novel.
D2.) Love story.
D3.) The omniscient narrator.

E1.) It was a really nice book.
E2.) It was a very nice book because it was a beautiful story. It’s a shame that there was such a predictable ending, but still it was a great book. I could really identify with the main character by the way of writing.
E3.) I disliked the last part where Benjamin finds a note with the date, time and place of the wedding. He goes there as fast as he can and tries to stop the wedding. At the end he takes Elaine with him (pages 206-211).I disliked it because it’s so predictable. It’s also a boring part. Before this part you get to know that Benjamin wants Elaine to marry him. So it was clear that he would do anything for that. I don’t like the ending, because they get in a bus... I asked myself and now what?? It’s al very unclear.
E4.) Benjamin Braddock, he’s interesting because he’s a bit unpredictable. I thought that he would be happy with his graduation and stuff, but he’s not and gets depressive and starts an affair with a friend of his parents. I wouldn’t do that in a lifetime. The other person is Elaine, I didn’t understand her that much. First she gets mad at Benjamin but later on she doesn’t bother seeing him again. I wouldn’t forget that. And when Benjamin asks her to marry him she doubts a lot, but still goes away with him. I don’t know what she was thinking.
E5.) I think my classmates should read this book, because it’s a very nice story and I think it would please everyone. It’s not hard to read. I’ve read it in a day so I think that’s a good reason to read it.
