Chapter 1
Forrest was born an idiot, he said, but he’s cleverer than people think.
After Forrest was born his daddy died. When Forrest grew up he played with everybody but after a while the boys hit him and the girls ran away from him.
One girl, Jenny Curran didn’t run away for him.
Then they put Forrest into another kind of school with people who couldn’t eat or drink without help. He stayed there for five or six years.
One day when Forrest was walking home, a car stopped next to him and a man asked where Forrest went to school and if Forrest ever plays football. Forrest told him he didn’t.
Three days later that man was at Forrest’s school and his mom was there too, she told him to say goodbye to the teacher and she put all the things out of his desk into a paper bag.
The man in the car took Forrest and his mom to a new high school and he wanted Forrest to play football. The man in the car was a coach, named Fellers.
Forrest began to play with the high school team and coach Fellers helped him.
Then in the school café he saw Jenny Curran. She looked beautiful. He went and sat with her, and she remembered him!
Then a boy started shouting at Forrest ans throw his milk all over Forrest ans a few days later they wanted to hit him so Forrest start to ran and coach Fellers saw Forrest running and wanted Forrest to run with the ball. Forrest did it really well, and after that everybody liked him.
Then something happend that was not really good. He went to the cinema with Jenny, and it all went wrong and his evening ended at the police station.
The next day a letter arrived from a university. It was good news, they wanted Forrest to play in their football team. The police said: “It’s okay with us. Just get out of town!” So next morning he went.
Chapter 2
When he was at the university he learned soon. The building where Forrest has to live in was nice from the outside but not on the inside. He had to share a room with a man called Curtis. They spook just 3 sentences for several days.
On the practice field, things didn’t start very well. Forrest told coach Bryant he never learned how to catch so coach Bryant started to teach him.
Forrest helped his room-mate Curtis with his car and than they had a fight so Forrest moved his bed to another room.
The first football game was on Saturday. Forrest did very well and they won 35 to 3.
Everybody was pleased. That night everybody went to parties but nobody asked Forrest to go. Then he met Bubba, who was playing the harmonica. They spend the hole night together playing on the harmonica. Forrest did it very well and Bubba wanted Forrest to take the harmonica with him.
The next day when he was walking to his room he heard his name calling and it was Jenny Curran. She wasn’t angry about the cinema accident. Jenny told him she played in a band and asked Forrest to come and listen.
Chapter 3
On Friday night he went to the students centre. There were a lot of people and Jenny was singing. They were playing for about an hour and how it happened, Forrest wasn’t sure, but suddenly he found himself playing his harmonica with them. Everybody loved it. After that Jenny asked him to play with their group every Friday, and it paid him $25 every time!
The only other important thing that happened was the big game that year. But the other team won with 28 to 24 so they were the losers. Coach Bryant said to his boys that there is always a next year is. But Forrest knew not for him.
Forrest couldn’t stay at the university because he wasn’t clever enough. Coach Bryant told him they had the best year.
Bubba helped Forrest to put his things into the suitcase. Forrest couldn’t say goodbye to Jenny because it wasn’t Friday night so she wasn’t playing. He left to Mobile, where he lived with his mom. At home his mother was crying. When Forrest asked her what’s wrong she told him she got a letter and Forrest had to go into the army.
Chapter 4
After he left the idiot school people were always shouting at him, but the people in the army shout louder and longer than anybody else.
One day, the cook was ill so Forrest had to be the cook that day. He put all the food into the boiler, cause the were only small pots, and the boiler was big enough and there was hot water in it. But suddenly the boiler began to shake and than it blew up. ‘You’re an idiot’ they screamed. But Forrest already knew that.
After a year they went to Vietnam to fight in the war. One evening when they were taking a shower (which was in a kind of hole) the ground suddenly start to blow up all around them. After about two minutes everybody climbed up out of the hole. The enemy soldier tried to blow them up for the next five nights, then it stopped.
They went to the north to help the other men in the jungle.
They went by helicopter and before they were on the ground the enemy start shooting at them. It was almost night before they found the other soldiers in the jungle. One of them was Bubba! He told Forrest about himself and about Jenny Curran who left school and went off with a group of people who were against the war.
Chapter 5
Between two hills there was a valley. They were on a hill and the enemy was on the other hill. They were ordered to move up and when they were in the middle of the valley they had a safe place and then they heard that the enemy started shooting again.
They stayed there all night and in the morning their planes came and they blew up the enemy soldiers. Suddenly somebody was shooting at them. They got out fast because the enemy soldiers were in front of them. They were shooting and killed about fifteen enemy soldiers. Two of their men were dead. Only Doyle was alive and Forrest picked him up and ran towards the hill. Then Forrest saw more enemy soldiers and began to ran and shouting as loudly as he could. His shouting frightened the enemy soldiers away.
The weeks went past slowly. Bubba and Forrest decided that they would get a shrimp boat when they got home again. It started to rain that day and it didn’t stop for two months. They still had to look for enemy soldiers and one day they found them. They start shooting again. When he looked for Bubba he found him in the rice field. There was blood all over him and he died. Before he died he asked Forrest to play something on the harmonica and Forrest did.
The next day an American plane came. All of a sudden the trees were on fire. During all that, somebody shot Forrest in the back of his leg but it didn’t matter. Then their helicopters came and the enemy soldiers who were left ran away. An hour later he was on his way to the hospital.

The next few weeks he went there every day with that man called Mr Chi and watched him while he was working. One day when he went back to the hospital, colonel Gooch said that they’re going back to America together and that Forrest was going to see the president. The president was going to give him a medal because Forrest has been very brave.
There were about two thousand people waiting for them at the airport. Forrest thought perhaps they were to welcome them but he was wrong. They were shouting unpleasant things and somebody threw a tomato at colonel Gooch and it hit him in the face. Forrest didn’t want to wait before he got a tomato in his face too so he start running and the people start running after him. Forrest ran into a toilet and locked the door. After an hour he came out again and he looked for colonel Gooch. He found him in the middle of a group of policemen. Then they went to Washington.

Then she told her friends who were against the war just like Jenny that Forrest won a medal.
The next day Forrest had to throw his medal away to stop the fighting in Vietnam. But it hit somebody very important so he went to prison.
But he didn’t stay there for long because they put him into a hospital for idiots. And there they decided to send him to a space centre in Houston. Then they sent Forrest into space with a woman and an ape. The space ship came down into the jungle somewhere and took four years before the NASA found them.
