Summary
Alex Rider is a fourteen year old spy for MI6 and he lies in a private hospital because he has been shot a couple days ago. In the room next to his room lies Paul Drevin, the son of one of the richest men in the world.
One night Alex can’t sleep and he walks around the hospital. He sees four men who shoot the receptionist and decided to switch with Paul because they want to kidnap Paul. When he knocked them all out, he wants to leave the hospital but he forgot that there is always a driver. When Alex is kidnapped the kidnappers burn the building where Alex is locked in but he can get out.
Nickolas Drevin, the father of Paul, invites Alex to be a guest of Drevin for two weeks, because he saved the life of his son.
The house where Paul, Drevin and Alex stay is huge (there are more than forty rooms) and Alex thinks he is going to have a nice vacation but when he and Drevin are going to cart, Alex sees that Drevin is very mean.
Together with the English government, Drevin builds the first spacehotel Ark Angel and the launch is on the island Flamingo Bay. Paul, Drevin and Alex travel to the island but when they arrive in New York, Alex can’t go in to America, so he has to stay at the airport. When Drevin and Paul are gone, Alex talks to the CIA because they want Alex to spy on the island. He doesn’t want but he has no choice.
At the island someone tells Drevin that Alex is a spy, so Drevin says thatAlex has to die. When Alex goes diving with a guard of Drevin, the guard locks Alex in a ship. Tamara Knight, the personal assistant of Drevin, who works for the CIA too, saves him. At the beach the guards of Drevin get them so they are the prisoners of Drevin. They shoot Tamara in her shoulder, but Alex can get away. He goes on a kite-surfboard to Barbados, where the other people of the CIA are waiting, but at one moment there are three boats after him, to kill him but he can knock them all out.
When they come at the island, they see the launch of the first rocket. The CIA gets the control over the island but in the first rocket is a bomb which will fall on Washington to destroy the Pentagon because that is the place where the CIA has the evidence against Drevin. Alex has to go in the second rocket to stop the bomb and in thirty minutes Alex is in space. When he comes at the Ark Angel he sees there’s someone else too who has to built the bomb in the space. The second rocket was to bring that person back. There is only space for one person in the rocket so they have to fight. Alex wins and he lands in the Pacific Ocean and he is glad to be back.
