Chapter 2
1. When were footsteps heard on the Ghost’s Walk?
When death or disgrace was coming to the Dedlock family these footsteps were heard.
2. “Nothing important has been decided” said Mr. Tulkinghorn. Who was Mr. Tulkinghorn? What was he talking about?
He was an old man, dressed in dull, black old fashioned clothes. He was Sir Leicester's lawyer. He was often at Chesney Wold and often at Sir Leicester's London house. He was talking about: the Jarndyce and Jarndyce case, Lady Dedlock was a claimant herself.
3. Lady Dedlock asked two questions about the handwriting on the law papers. What were the questions? What was the difference in the way in which she asked them?
Who copied these papers? spoken more quickly than usual and Is that writing called law hand? spoken in her usual careless way.
4. Why dit Mr. Tulkinghorn want to find the man who had written the papers?
He had to find out the secret of Mrs. Dedlock. Knowing a persons secret gave him power over the person.

Everything was bought and nothing was sold.

Because he have so many things but, he never let anything go.

She thinks too mush about the natives of Africa.

He thought Nemo was a part of the secret of Lady Dedlock, by telling her about his death he would know for sure (looking at her face).

1. A maid brought Esther the housekeeping keys. Why was Esther pleased?
Jhon Jarndyce trusted her.
2. Why had John Jarndyce decided to look after Esther?
She could be useful and helpful at Bleak House. He had heard of a good little girl, called Esther. She was an orphant, and he decided to look after her. He is her guardian and friend.
3. What was the case Jarndyce and Jarndyce about?
Now it's about money but, first about a will.
4. Why did John Jarndyce call his home ‘Bleak House’?
Jhon's uncle called it Bleak House because it was a very said place when he lived here.

It is the oldest dirtiest street in London, with the blackest dirtiest houses.

Nemo died, that’s why.
3. People like Mrs. Jellyby helped the poor people of Africa. Why did Dickens think this was not a good thing?
because she could also help Jo, Jo is poor, has not been to school, and cant read

No, there is written: Jo knew very little, but she was not a servant

His ideas about life and money Richard had no plans for the future and he thinks he might have a lot of money.

No he was not. He talked to Richard for hours to change his mind. There was nothing he could do.

They al expected a judgement. But they are all dead now.

Sir Leicester was a proud man and the disgrace of his wife would kill him. So the secret had to be kept for Sir Leicester.

Who was the servant meant to be?
Mrs Dedlock was the great leady and the servant was Lay Dedlock's own servant Rosa

He would not allow his daughter to live in the same house as the great lady who had disgraced her husband.
