The monarchy in England is around 1500 years old. The power was in hands of the Emporer, whose task it was to rule and to defend the empire. From about 250 AD Roman power was beginning to crumble.
The Saxon conquest is very important in the history of England. It’s the largest immigration England has ever known. Up to 90% oft he native population was displaced. Immigrants brought a new language and new names. Brittania became Aengla Land.
Offa was king of Mercia. He build a dyke wich is 64 miles long. Offa was creating a dynasty. Years later, Alfred became king. He had to fight to the vikings. Alfred destroyed the Vikings with great slaughter. Alfred died in 899. His great grandson Edgare became king of the First Britisch empire. The English had created the world’s First nation state.
When Henry II was 21 years old, he became king. His mother was the daughter of the English king Henry I. In that time, the church had much power in Europe.
Thomas Becket was Archbishop of Canterbury. He wanted to be independent of the church. Becket was murdered.
Henry II died when he was 56 years old. His youngest son John became king of England, but he was not as successful as his father.
Magna Carta were the basic human rights. It quickly became a touchstone of liberties in the Middle Ages.
John died on the 18th October in 1216. His son Henry III became king when he was 9 years old.
The Nobles found a leader in Simon de Montfort. De Montfort was killed only 15 months since his great victory at Lewes. The royalists hated him. They had triumphed and the authority of the monarchy was restored.

I think it’s not a great documentary. It lasted very long and it was pretty boring. Some things were interesting. Like the description about the life of the kings and the story about Magna Carta. I wouldn’t recommend this documentery. But if someone really love history, I recommend it to that person.
