Dead Poets Society I want to tell you a little bit about the movie “Dead Poets Society.” The story is set in the 5o’s. There was an expensive private school in New England, USA. There were 5 friends: Neil, Todd, Charlie, Knox and Cameron. Neil was a nice guy, he wasn’t shy and he also liked acting. But his father was too strict. Neil had to do all the thing that his father said. Todd wasn’t like Neil, he was quit and also shy. Knox was just like normal guy, but he didn’t dare to ask Chris (a girl he liked) to go out. Charlie or Nevada was a very “open” guy. He did everything he wanted. For example he smoked at school but it was taboo there. Cameron was still guy en he did everything what teacher said. It has a good side but also a bad. Ones upon a time there was a new teacher, Mr. Keating. He was a teacher of literature. That teacher taught children not just a literature, but he wanted that they feel what it really is, especially poetry. He also was at one time a member of the ”Dead Poets Society”. Those members read poetries and they tried to "feel” it. Neil wanted to try it to, so he and his friends based their own ”Dead Poets Society”. But that was also taboo at their school, so nobody else knew it. Neil got one opportunity to act for a big public and he knew that his father would refuse him. So he didn’t tell anything to his father. Neil’s father heard about it and he warned Neil. But for all that Neil acted. Neil’s father heard also about that and he said to Neil that he had to leave his private school. He also said that Neil would go to school where he will study for a doctor about 8 years. Neil knew that that his father would never leave him alone, so he committed suicide. After that accident a head of their school knew everything about ”Dead Poets Society”. The friends were cheated by someone. And it was Cameron, he betrayed his friends, because he did everything what a teacher said. Charlie was suspended, because he’s broken Cameron’s nose. The others were just expelled. And Mr. Keating was discharged, because a head of their school thought that Mr. Keating made that children force to base the ”Dead Poets Society”. Mr. Keating felt himself guilty, but Todd reminded him that he was a good example for all of them, he was “Oh Captain, my captain”. He left that school and he knew that those children had learned what he taught them. About the film: The movie was good. Like the camera positions or pace. And the producer has made a good choice of music. In the middle of the movie was a fragment when Mr. Keating played with the guy’s football and at the same time they had literature lesson. It was like they were friends or brothers. And at the same moment we could hear the music of Beethoven “Aller Menschen wirden Brüder.” So I think that that music suits to that fragment. There was also a fragment in the middle of the movie when 2 guys (I don’t remember who was it) have repaired the radio, and we could hear rock'n roll. This sort of music shows us that the people were happy. And it was so, because Neil was happy that he could act for a big public. At the end of the movie there was a fragment when Neil was dead and everybody was sad. At that moment it was snowing, it shows us their feelings. Everybody was sad and it’s associates with cold weather. The producer of that film is very smart soul. Mine opinion: The movie was made good. (Look at “About the film”) This film wasn’t boring. It was interesting. There were also funny fragments, but at the same time the movie was serious. The movie tells us about a life of the guys like us in the 50’s. And it was not easy as we saw. But what I don’t like in the movie is the open end. We don’t know what’s going happen to Mr. Keating Todd, Cameron and others. I also wanted to know what’s going happen to Knox. Will Chris be his girlfriend? You shouldn’t ever lie to your teacher, but if it’s going about your friends you mustn’t betrayed them. Neil, Todd, Knox and Charlie were real friends. But Cameron wasn’t so. And he’ll never have/get real friends. My father likes a little bit at Neil’s father. My father wants that I learn everything, do what he says. He wants me to be the best, but I can’t do the things that I can’t. But my father doesn’t say to me who am I going to be. He says that I can be what I want to be. I also want that we are going to see more movies at English lesson. It’ s more interesting and it’s also a good opportunity to us to learn more English.
