A fun activity for humans or prison for animals?
(CS) Currently the zoo is a popular place to go when you want a fun activity, many people like going to the zoo. (S1/S2) There are two groups of people regarding their opinion on zoos. The first group consists of people who love the zoo. They like going there and believe that it is okay for animals to live in zoos. On the other side, there is a group of people who are against zoos. They believe that animals should live in their natural habitats, not in zoos. (TS) This essay will discuss the arguments for and against the thesis: ‘’all animals should live in their natural habitats, not in zoos’’.
(TS) This paragraph will discuss the arguments for the thesis that all animals should live in their natural habitats, not zoos. (A1) First of all, animal cages in zoos are too small. (E2) Animals in the wild have a lot of space to run around and hunt, however animals in the zoos do not have this. They often suffer from boredom and stress. Zoo animals have a lack of freedom. (A2) In addition, animals sometimes escape their enclosure, which brings both the animal and the zoo visitors in danger. (E2) For instance, in 2016 in the Cincinnati Zoo a toddler fell into a gorilla cage. The ape was immediately killed. While the child survived, in the future this could happen again and have a worse outcome. (SS) In conclusion, reasons to be against zoos are that the animals life in small cages and they can escape their cage which is very dangerous.
(TS) This paragraph will discuss the arguments against the thesis that all animals should live in their natural habitats, not zoos. (A1) Firstly, zoos protect endangered animals. (E1) A lot of endangered animals cannot life safely in the wild, due to poachers, habitat loss and predators. If we do not intervene these animals could easily go extinct. In the zoos, the animals have a safe space with no danger. (A2) Furthermore, zoos have an important educational purpose. (E2) Zoos educate their guests about the zoo animals. This way people can learn more about animals and nature.
(SS) To sum up, reasons to support zoos are that zoos give endangered animals a protection that they would not get in their natural habitats and zoos are important for education.
(PE) This essay discussed the arguments for and against the thesis that all animals should live in their natural habitats, not zoos. (GC) All in all, there are a lot of arguments made on both sides. Arguments against zoos are that the cages are too small and there is a risk that the animals escape. On the other side, zoos have an important educational purpose and protect endangered animals. (PO) I personally agree with the thesis, I think that the arguments for are stronger. (FS) My expectations for the future are that a lot more people will turn against zoos. Eventually zoos will be closed, and all animals get to live in their natural habitats.
