Two weeks with the queen door Morris Gleitzman

The name of the book is ‘Two weeks with the Queen’. The book is writing by Morris Gleitzman. I tell more about him on the end of this book report. The story take place on Australia and England. The book is a moving story told with sensitivity and great humour. The main character of the book is Colin Mudford , an Australian boy. His brother Luke has cancer and the doctors in Australia don’t seem able to cure him. Colin’s mother send him to London to stay with his Aunty Iris and Uncle Bob. Colin reckons it’s up to him to find the best doctor in the world. And how better to do this than by asking the Queen to help. Colin’s cousin Alistair helps Colin. In England Colin meet Ted, who’s friend died by cancer. They will be good friends. Colin’s most important problem is that his brother Luke has cancer. Colin search for the best doctor in the world. He find him but the doctor say that Luke’s cancer is incurable: the problem is not solved. Colin, Luke mum and dad watching the television. Suddenly Luke faints on the floor. In the hospital in Sydney the doctors find cancer. Mum and dad decided that it would be better for Colin if he moves to Aunty Iris and Uncle Bob’s place in London. Colin reckons it’s up to him to find the best doctor in the world. Colin ask the Queen for help but he didn’t get an answer. After a search for two weeks he find the best doctor in the world. He will help Colin. He called the hospital in Sydney. The doctor asked information about Luke’s cancer. The doctor’s conclusion was that Luke’s cancer is incurable. Colin is hopeless. This is the most important moment in the book. If Colin heard Luke’s cancer is incurable he will go back to his family in Australia. Before walking into Luke’s room he took a deep breath. There were Mum and Dad sitting on either side of the bed talking to Luke. They looked very pale and tired. Luke looked smaller than Colin remembered, and very pale. His hair was sort of wispy. Colin looked at Luke, flinging his arms round his neck, squealing his name joyously, hugging him as if he’d never let go. Colin felt tears pouring down his cheeks. I recommend this book for the readers of this book report because it’s a very nice book. Also because it isn’t fiction. It’s a stirring story and I can imagine with Colin and his parents. In spite of that it in England a book is for children around ten years old I think it’s a good book for students of secondary school.
