Things fall apart
Things fall apart is a novel written by Chinua Achebe in 1959 that plays in Africa before the Europeans came in 1880s, Chinua Achebe wrote this story to show to native countries the lifestyle of people in Africa.

Characters
Okonkwo is the main character in Things Fall Apart. He is physically strong and is well known in his land for his wrestle matches. He has three wives. Ekwefi is Okonkwo's second wife who has had trouble having children. She loves her only child and daughter Ezinma. Ikemefuna was a young man that was taken from another village to prevent war between the two cities. Ikemefuma lived with Okonkwo and his family for three years, becoming very much a part of the family and seeing Okonkwo as his father. Nwoye looked up to him greatly. He was killed by the men of the village, including Okonkwo, because the gods told the men he had to die.
I would like to meet Ikemefuna, he’s a really smart boy and also strong. I wouldn’t like to meet Okonkwo because he has really different standards as I have but I would like to be him in this story because he is a powerful man but I would react different in some situations.

Background
It plays in Africa before the time Europeans came to colonize everything there in the late 1880s. The people in Africa are really different from people like us, they do think other things and react different from us. Also they have different gods with different rules, it is important that you understand there way of life to fully understand the story and the people in it.

Summary
It takes place in village of Umuofia in the late 1880s, before missionaries and other Europeans have arrived. The Ibo clan practices common clan traditions like worship of gods, sacrifice, war, and magic. You get leadership when you work and contribute to the good of the clan. Okonkwo is a great leader of the Ibo clan. The men of the clan respect Okonkwo for his many achievements.
Even though the clan respect Okonkwo, he must be punished for his accident, shooting of a young boy by accident. The Ibo ban Okonkwo from the clan for seven years. Upon his return to the village, Okonkwo finds a tribe weakened by the missionaries who have interrupted all the traditions of the clan. Only when Okonkwo commits the biggest sin against the clan the clan comes back together like in the past.

Opinion
I have never read a book like this, because it’s genre never attracted me. But now I’m going to read more of this type of books because I think this was a great story. It has really blown me away I can advice this book to everyone because of its writing style, the background and the great culture. I think the title totally fits the story, because when Okonkwo accidentally shot the boy things fall apart in his clan and it’s up to him to fix it.
