- 'Barbara!' he shouted, cutting off Elaine in mid-stream. 'Do come and meet shebra hart.'
- Sheba dispayed no such new-girl jitters and for this I admired her.
- Yet, in spite of this, I found myself possessed by a strange certainty that we would one day be friends.
- Sheba remembers being by his child-like posture of concentration- the way his tongue was peeping out from his mouth and his left arm was curled protectively around his labours. This was Steven Connolly
- As time went on and Connolly's visits became routine, he was emboldened to volunteer more of his insights about art and his ideas about the world.
- And then, in a sudden rush, as if he had been holding his breath, he said, ‘I’m really into you, Miss.’
- She was about to reach out her hand and pat his shoulder when Connolly’s face suddenly came pressing in at hers.
- ‘What is your relationship with him?’(said Barbara). ‘I suppose you’d have to say we’re involved. I mean…we’re having an affair.

- The first important event is when Sheba comes working at the school. I think this is a important for the story because at this moment she first met Barbara and Barbara tells really good in the story what she first thougt of Sheba and how she looked.
- Also a important event is when Sheba first met Steven Connolly at the Homework Club, where is was sitting at the back of the room. This is the begining of where almost the whole story is about, because from this moment on she gets more and more feelings for Connolly
- The last important event is when Barbara finds out that Sheba has a affair with Steven Connolly. Barbara was looking for Sheba when she saw her talking to Connolly at Regent’s Park Road down by the trees. Later that evening she and Sheba sat down at the studio of Sheba and at that moment Sheba told Barbara about the affair. This is importent because later on in the story Barbara use this
