Summary:
MacBeth was a general of Duncan's army. Duncan was the King of Scotland. When MacBeth and Banquo (another general) met three witches, his life changed forever. The witches told him that he would be thane of Cawdor, and even King of Scotland. They also said that the sons of Banquo would become king too. When he came back home, he became thane of Cawdor. He told the whole story to his wife. Lady MacBeth became crazy. Become queen was her sole object. After this, they killed Duncan. MacBeth was full of doubts. But Lady MacBeth said that he must go on. MacBeth considered that Banquo would suspect him of the murder of Duncan. Because of this, he sent three hired assassins to kill Banquo and his sons. Only Banquo died and his son escaped. MacBeth went to the witches again and they predicted him to beware MacDuff and that if the woods would come closer to his castle, he would be in trouble. Because of the new prediction, he decides to kill MacDuff. Everyone in his castle is killed, except for MacDuff. When MacDuff heard of the fact, he decided to kill MacBeth. He and others go to the castle of MacBeth and after a fight, MacDuff killed MacBeth.

Macbeth is the main character. At the beginning he's a general in the army. He was told he would be king, and to do so,
he had the king at that moment: Duncan. At first he is weak and he has doubts, but his wife knows to persuade him
to do it. After the first murder, he was sinking faster and faster and become more evil. He smelled power and he did
everything to stay king.
Setting:
The story takes place on High Dunsinane Hill in Scotland. This is the castle of MacBeth. It also takes place at other places in Scotland, but this is the main place.

Theme:
1) Power => MacBeth is told that he will be king, and once he knows that, he will do everything that lies within his power to reach his goal: the throne. So ambition leading to destruction = very important.
2) Good against evil => at first MacBeth is a good person, and when he knows he has to kill King Duncan to become king, he has strong doubts. But his wife wants that power and she wants to be a king's wife, so she knows to persuade him and she turns him into an evil man. An after the first murder, he could not turn back and his good side was slowly
disappearing.

William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon on April 23, 1564. Shakespeare went to the free grammar school in Stratford. It was a good school where he learned even Greek and Latin. William Shakespeare did not go to college that's why people think hasn't write his work. He started getting famous in 1592. He showed his great talent in London. In 1594 he was acting, writing and he was managing the Lord Chamberlain's Men. This group was the most famous group of their time. He wrote in London some famous musicals: As you like it, Hamlet, King Lear, Mac Beth, The Merchant of Venice, Much ado about nothing, Orthello, Richard 3 and of course Romeo And Juliet. Shakespeare was very famous but he wasn't very wealthy, he was able to buy a house, retire and live in comfort in 1611. He died in on April 23, 1616 ( his birthday).
