Summary

In this Harry Potter Sirius Black has escaped from the wizard prison Azkaban. This prison is guarded by creatures called Dementors. They can suck your sole and all the happiness out of your body.

They say Sirius Black killed 12 people with a single spell. The entire magical community lives in fear of this massacre. They also think that Black is after Harry. This is why Dementors are placed all around Hogwarts. But Black still manages to get inside. Harry finds out that their defence-against-the-dark- art-teacher, Remus Lupin, a werewolf is and that Sirius Black is his godfather. He also finds out that Sirius Black was not after him but after Ron’s rat Scabbers, who turns out to be Peter Pettigrew a former friend of James Potter (Harry’s father) and Sirius and Lupin. He was the Potters secrets keeper, only he knew where they were staying, he betrayed them to Voldemort. Sirius was furious and went after Peter. When Sirius went after him, Peter caused a massacre by using one of the forbidden spells and quickly transformed into a rat.

Sirius was innocent but he was sent to Azkaban because everybody thought that he had caused the gigantic massacre. When Sirius escaped Azkaban he was determined to catch Peter so he would be declared a free man. He did catch Peter but the rat manages to escape. Sirius can’t prove his innocence and has to run after all with the help of Harry and Hermione.

I will now give my opinion about the book.

The subject of this book is witchcraft or magic. I like to read this because it’s interesting to read about a story that isn’t about every day life. I think the author has done a very good job, she makes me want to know what is going to happen next. Sometimes it’s even a little confusing because the story is a bit complicated. The most important part in the book is when you find out that Peter, Ron’s rat, is the villain instead of Sirius Black. All the parts are very well put together, everything that happens in the book has a reason. In my view Harry is very brave, he continuously risks his life to protect others.. I don’t know if I would act as brave as Harry when in such situations. In some ways the set up of the story can be very complicated and confusing because all parts are linked to one and other. This makes the book also very thrilling at some moments. The book fascinated me from start to the finish. The language is very suitable. For example, Hermione talks very intelligent in comparison to Hagrid. Mean characters also talk very mean. I really enjoyed the book, I found it very thrilling and nice to read. The writer is very talented. I would recommend this book to everyone.

C2 2 Is it realistic

Of course the story of this book could never really have happened. The story is about Harry Potter a little wizard boy, who is chased by a mass murderer. The assassin has escaped from a highly guarded prison and has magical powers. Harry goes to a school for little witches and wizards, and studies supernatural subjects. Every year Harry visits a town especially for wizards and witches. All of these things could not have actually occurred.

When Harry was young his parents were murdered. This is a thing that could really have happened. But the way they were murdered is impossible in our world, because his parents were killed by a curse from a bad wizard: Voldemort. Despite this I think the thing, losing your parents, which can happen is something you can learn of. How is Harry Potter dealing with this and what would you do if you lost your parents.

At the end of the story Harry travels back in time and flies on a Hippogriff (a weird animal) to save the day. This is also not possible and realistic. Some people really believe in magic and they would get angry if you told the Harry Potter is fake. In mine opinion Harry Potter isn’t real and you should not believe such thing. But I think there is something like magic but in a smaller way, like that people can see what somebody is thinking and not a something like a man who’s flying on a broomstick.
