Dumbledore thinks he’s good and most of the people think it, but Harry doesn’t trust it at all and in the end his disbelief is confirmed: Snape is a bad person. Snape has black hear and a pale skin. Harry Potter is the main character and the Half-Blood Prince is Severus Snape, who is also an important character. Harry Potter had a book that belonged to the Half-Blood Prince, but of course, he didn’t know the Half-Blood Prince was Snape, the man he hated so much. Setting (place, time) Place – Most of the story takes place in Hogwarts’ castle, school for the wizards. Time – There isn’t spoken about specific dates, but it takes place in the present. Summary Everyone knew Lord Voldemort had returned. Strange things happened everywhere and nobody was safe. It was dark and cold in the world, even when it was summer. Harry was with his uncle, aunt and nephew. He waited for Dumbledore to get him away from the world of the Muggles. He went to the Burrow, the house of the Weasley family. But before he could go to the Burrow, Dumbledore asked him a favour; Harry needed to persuade Horatio Slughorn for coming back to Hogwarts, so that he could teach. Harry succeeded and Slughorn is persuaded. After that, he went to the Burrow, where his friends Ron en Hermione were. Harry finally told them about the prophecy, that he is the only one who’s able to kill Voldemort or Voldemort would kill him. When the first of September came, they went to Diagon Alley to buy new stuff for school. They saw Draco Malfoy doing strange things, but they couldn’t find out what is was. Harry thought it was something bad, so he wanted to take an eye on him, but Ron and Hermione didn’t feel for it. Back at school they found out that not Slughorn became Defence againt the dark arts teacher, but Snape did. Slughorn became Potions teacher. Harry had only an exceeds expectations for his O.W.L, so he thought he couldn’t get Potions for becoming an Auror. Although, Slughorn said it was alright to go further with Potions and he said Harry could lend a book from school. He got a very old book with many notes written in it. Harry found out that the notes were very usefull and he was the best with Potions. Hermione didn’t like that and she tried to find out who was the owner, but without succeeding. Harry found a name in the book: the Half-Blood Prince, but they didn’t know who had named himself the Half-Blood Prince. Harry als got private lessons from Dumbledore. Dumbledore wanted to tell Harry everything about Voldemort by means of showing Harry memories from different people in the so-called Pensieve. Also at school, strange things happened. Harry thought Malfoy was after it, but he had no evidence at all, so nobody believed him. At christmas, he heard a conversation between Snape and Malfoy. They were arguing about something Malfoy should have done and Snape wanted to help him, but Malfoy said it was something only he was asked to do. Snape said he made an Unbreakable Vow to the mother of Malfoy for protecting her son. After Christmas, Dumbledore asked Harry another favour: Harry needed to get a memory of Slughorn about Voldemort which was very important for his private lessons. It took a long time, because he set his mind on Malfoy’s unknown plan, but he succeeded, because he took a sip of the Felix Felicis, a potion he won with Potions. The memory told what so-called Horcruxes are. In the memory Voldemort asked Slughorn to explain what Horcruxes are. Horcruxes are ordinary objects, where a piece of soul is put in. You can only make it by killing somebody and you only can kill a person if all horcruxes are destroyed. Voldemort made six horcruxes and Dumbledore was trying to find those horcruxes, so that he could destroy them. He promised Harry that be could join him the next time when Dumbledore was trying to find a horcrux. Harry found out what Malfoy had on his mind, but before he could even tell it to Dumbledore, they were on their way to find a horcrux. Harry asked Hermione and Ron to go after Malfoy and he gave them the tiny bottle with Felix Felicis. Harry and Dumbledore went to a cave where a big lake was in. In the middle was an Island where the Horcrux was. Dumbledore got poisoned, but they got the horcrux and went back to Hogwarts. When they got back, Harry saw where he was afraid of: The Death Mark appeared above the castle and death eaters were in the castle, fighting. When they arrived at the castle, Dumbledore put a spell on Harry so that he couldn’t move and Malfoy came and he disarmed him. Harry had to look on how Malfoy tried to kill Dumbledore, but he couldn’t do it. Snape, who was also there, did it. After that, Harry tried to go after Snape and Malfoy, but with no success. The whole castle turned sad, because Dumbledore, their headmaster, had been killed. Snape turned out to be the Half-Blood Prince, so that was bad news to Harry. Harry was so happy with the book, but the notes were made by the killer of Dumbledore. The horcrux that was found was a fake one, but Harry now knew what was his task: to find the real horcruxes, destroy them and after that, kill Voldemort. Theme The books of Harry Potter are about the battle between good and evil, Harry and Voldemort. Personal opinion When the book came out at the sixteenth of July, I immediately bought a copy and I read it within two days. Although I’m sixteen years old, I still like the books of Harry Potter.
