Setting:

The story take in a big area with a diameter of 20 miles. The area is surrounded by a big green wall which you can’t touch. There is a village called Perdido beach in the south against the big wall. On the beach you can surf and in the middle of the village is the plaza with a square and shops. This big area  called FAYZ ( fall-out alley youth zone) with in the middle a nuclear power plant. It happens in the present, because almost everyone has a mobile phone and televisions and that kind of stuff.

Characters:

Sam temple is obviously the main character, He is 14 and in the end of the book he becomes 15. He has, like some other children, a gift. When he is angry or in panic, He can shoot green light beams  out of his hands, which he can burn and explode things. He is  good-looking but not that good-looking that girls will look at him. He doesn’t like to be in the picture, so he wears clothes that make him on the background (if you get what I mean). He is in love with Astrid .His best friend is Quinn. Astrid is very intelligent and very nice. Quinn is a little strange and obvious not certain about his choices. When he is in panic he will betray his friends just to get himself in safety.  Sam has the nickname School bus Sam, which he earned when he saved the bus from falling into a cliff after the driver got a heart attack.

Summary:

Sam is sitting in the classroom, everything seems normal until the teacher disappears in front of everyone’s eyes. But he is not the only one who has disappeared. Josh disappeared too, he was the only one who was 15 In the class. Every one above 15 years has disappeared. They find out the televisions, radios, telephones and internet doesn’t work anymore. There are a lot of little children and babies who need care but there aren’t any adults anymore to give them. The chaos will rule this place, unless someone will command, everyone knows Sam as school bus Sam, everyone looks up to him. He is in charge without trying to get it, everyone thinks that he will save them, but he can’t. they start to look for little Pete, the little brother of Astrid. Gradually  they  figure out what’s going on. They find the big green wall, which you can’t touch, because  if you do you’ll burn your hands without getting a mark.  Pete is in the nuclear plant, playing on his Gameboy. They find him along with a map of radiation or something, they don’t know what it is.  At and other school, Coates academy, has Caine the lead. In the beginning he has order, but later on, he and his group of followers become a reign of terror for the children in perdido beach. Astrid, Quinn and Sam find a girl, who had an accident ,after the vanishing, in the truck of his grandfather. She has the gift to heal people with her hands. Pete has a gift too, he can teleport his self and others. Back at the plaza, where the most children are, Caine wants to join Sam. Caine behaves very nice and friendly. Caine has the ability to move things without touching it and he can lift them up also he can give gusts. He and his friends aren’t there for piece, they want to new who the freaks are (the children with an ability). He is capturing them in the school. Caine has captured all of them except Astrid, Pete, Lana, Sam and Edileo. They are escaped. Caine has now the lead over the FAYZ. He, his army of very strong freaks and the coyotes are forming an army against Sam. The coyotes are not just coyotes but are very intelligent and can talk. Sam and his friends have released the freaks who were captured in the school. He is forming an army too. In the evening the war begins. It’s the evening Sam and Caine become 15. At twelve o’clock Sam flies up and sees his mother, she is calling him. But he doesn’t want to come, he can’t leave Astrid here without him. His mother tells him that Caine is his twin brother, who was given away. But he doesn’t believe it and Caine either. their mother turns into a monster and the next moment they’re standing across each other in the middle of the battlefield. He start fighting again. After a while Caine says pull back. Sam has won the fight. 14 children have died. But none of them was Sam or Astrid. Sam decides to let Caine live with the message come never back. The last words of Caine were it was very dumb to let me live. The next day all the children with Sam as leader, are enjoying their food at thanksgiving.

The best part:

I think the best part was the moment Caine and Sam become fifteen, because it was very unpredictable. I thought everyone above fifteen just vanished. Because of this I want to read the other books.

My opinion (why I would recommend this book to a friend, or why not):

I think the book wasn’t very nice to read. You have kind of books which read very nice and fast, like the hunger games.  But this book was the opposite. It was a nice storyline and was very exciting, but the way it’s written isn’t the best way. If you like to read difficult books (not because of the words or the sentences but just stupid way of writing) I would recommend it. But if you love books which are nice to read and a nice storyline, than you have to look for another book.
