Summarize the novel in 150-200 words:
Felicia is a 17 year old, Irish girl. Her mother died when she was six and now she lives with her father, twin-brothers and her great-grandmother, for whom she takes care. She has met a guy named Johnny from who she got pregnant. He leaves Ireland to go to England where he works in a lawn-mower factory (he says). She goes to England, with money she has stolen from her great-grandmother, and she meets Mr. Hilditch who is a collector and befriender of homeless young girls. She stays for a while in the Gathering House with Miss Galligary and when she leaves she finds out her money is stolen. She thinks it is in the G.H. but later it is clear that Mr. Hilditch has stolen her money. Now she lives on the streets. She meets Mr. Hilditch again and she moves in with him. She does an abortion but afterwards she feels guilty and regrets her action. One night Mr. Hilditch tells her all about the murdered girls and Felicia runs away. Miss Galligary is there to meet Mr. Hilditch and she tries to let him find the Lord. He isn’t interested and all he talks about is Felicia. Then he realises he has killed all those girls and the thought drives him insane and so he hangs himself. Miss Galligary and Felicia meet again, but Felicia doesn’t want to go back to the Gathering House so she stays on the streets and she loses her innocence.
