Rob thanks him for saving his life. Then he meets Morgan; he thinks he can ride the horse quite well. Later they got to know each other better. Morgan and Rob decide that Rob will work for Morgan, as an undercover agent. He has to investigate the theft of cattle from farmers. Next day he’s on his way to the Greene Ranch. He has to train horses on the Ranch. And he has to decide which horses are capable for the rodeo. He had to train himself too.
He also had to give lessons for horse riding, to Jonas Greene’s son, Alan. On Saturday Rob begins his investigation. He’s seeking for thieves who steal cattle. He went to a bar.
A man called his voice: Rob Hardesty! It was a man called Buck Woods. He wanted to speak with him in private. Buck Woods convinced him to get a job to steal cattle. Rob had a chance to investigate much better. Next day they had a deal at 10 o’clock. They went to a place which used to be a pump-station. It was an abandoned place. Buck Woods arrived; they rode for a few kilometers to a curtain place. They stopped at a gravel path. Rob saw a cattle-truck, the one Troy Simms owned. He was almost sure it was his truck. After half an hour they were at their destination. They stole the cattle there and went away. Next day Rob continued his investigation. A few hours later Rob was called by Joy Simms. She asked him out, for a dinner. They talked about the death of Troy Simms. Joy felt guilty. In the late evening Rob visited Bill Miller. Rob talked about the lipstick on the body of Troy Simms. It could be a mark and the murderer could be a serial killer. In the next late morning Buck Woods called. He told him to go Sixth Street Downtown. They had a conversation about the cattle they were going to steal. Rob received money too: $3000,-. In the evening, Buck came by. Rob had to drive with the truck of Joy Simms, an eighteen-wheeler. They stole a dozen horses and cows, not really that much. They drove to Kane’s Meat’s to deliver the cows and horses. Buck and his boss wanted to steal more horses. They wanted to steal horses of the Greene Ranch. He had to make a choice: either his horses got stolen and he would catch the thieves, or he could warn Jonas Greene.
In the evening at 9 o’clock, Joy and Buck arrived. Rob said he had called Jonas Greene.
Rob said to Joy and Buck his uncle had a heart attack.
Then Rob saw Jack Babcock, with a gun. Jack began to talk about the murder of Troy. He said Joy killed him, but he wasn’t right, he was the murderer. He was acting like a clown so he thought he was safe. But he wasn’t after all. Then Joy shot and killed Jack. The ambulance came and Bill Miller and his man arrived. The ambulance was there to pick up the body of Jack. Bill arrested Buck. Jonas, Marge and Alan Greene came and apologised.
