13) Extra assignment: Résumé: Charlie lives in a poor family. The whole family, including his parents and grandparents, live together in a small wooden house on the edge of a great town. Every day, after school he walks past Mr Wonka's Chocolate Factory, because he wants to smell the aroma of his favourite candy: chocolate. Only once a year, at his birthday, he gets a bar of chocolate. Mr Wonka is getting older and he has no family and children. So he wants to have somebody to give the factory to, and he puts five golden tickets in chocolate bars. The lucky finders of the tickets will be allowed to see the factory and they get enough chocolates and sweets to last them for the rest of their lives. One of them will get the factory. He gives them a guided tour through the factory. All the children meet with an accident, except for Charlie of course and he gets the factory.
The first accident happens in the first room: The Chocolate Room. There is a chocolate river in that room. Oompa-Loompas are walking on the bank of the river in the chocolate grass. They come out Loompaland and they eat cacao beans. At the same time Augustus (a very big, fat boy who is spoilt by his parents) wants to drink from the Chocolate River. But when he bends over a bit too much, he falls in the river. He floats down on the river and a little later he gets sucked up by a glass pipe (they bring the chocolate from the chocolate river to other parts of the factory).
Then they sail across the river and arrive at several chambers where all kind of things are invented. In one of the chambers is The Big Gum Machine. This machine makes gums with all sorts of flavours. Violet Beauregarde (she has the world record 'gum chewing' on her name) wants to try one of course, although this isn't allowed: this gum is not completely finished yet. When she takes one, she turns all purple-blue and her body expands (she takes a blueberry gum).
After a long way through the factory, they arrive in The Nut Room. They see squirrels. The squirrels are special, because they can get the nuts out of the walnuts. Veruca, a girl who always wants to have everything and her parents give then what she wants, thinks the squirrels are cute and wants to have one.
So she goes to the squirrels and she grabs one of them. All the other squirrels attack her and they throw her in a rubbish chute. Her parents jump after her.
Only Mike Teevee and Charlie Bucket are left. Mike Teevee wants to watch television, so they take the elevator to The Television Room. In that room there is an enormous camera and a normal television. You can send television programs by air to other televisions, and you can also send chocolate bars and other things. Only when you send something, it will be reduced by size. Mike is coincidentally send to the television. He is no taller than three centimetres. And so gets Charlie the factory.
