My Opinion
Normally, i don’t like this type of books. I don’t like books about war, the army and that kind of thinks. But this is a really good book! The story is well conceived. This book shows the good AND bad sides of the war in Iraq and that is really nice to read. The writing style of the whole book is easy.
Summary
The book describes the war in Iraq from the perspective of Robin Perry, a soldier in the Iraq army. He has to take care of the reconstruction of Iraq. He is changing during the war, because he does things that he would never expected to do when he sat home. During the book he sends emails to his uncle, which he likes very much, and also has been a soldier. The book tells especially about the regio Bagdad. Robin has landed in Kuwait, next to Iraq. He got his orders, he has to do the medical help in the surrounding villages around Bagdad. He has his concerns about the whole project. This is because first the Americans came and shot everything and everyone down. Then the squad of Robin has to rebuild and help the survivors. In the book, you don’t know who you can trust, and that is one of Robin’s biggest problems. Robin and his squad have to protect the inhabitants, and kill the terrorists. But when the terrorists disguise themselves as inhabitants, the case is becoming a bit more complicated. Robin did a great job; but he became very fearful because after every stone can be danger and perhaps even death. Robin realises that good now…
