The photos I have submitted are symbolic, displaying monumental statues in the Republic Square, Valletta, Malta, which had recent issues with assistance to refugees. The majority of people believe that once an asylum seeker arrives in a safer country, their journey is over. However, many migrants find themselves stuck in a new system, displaced, living hand to mouth, struggling to rebuild their lives. There is always the threat that any assistance may be stripped from them. The cellophane on the statues symbolise an awkwardness, how Asylum seekers are confined, their options are limited even once they have entered another country.
