Summary;
It starts when Bella has her eighteenth birthday, and the Cullens organize a party for her, even though she doesn’t want it. When she opens the gifts, Bella gets a paper cut, and Jasper loses control, and tries to attack her, but Edward comes into action. Later on, Edward tells Bella in the forest that they are leaving Forks because Edward realizes that his family could be a danger to Bella. Bella starts crying and is left alone in the forest, and is found later on when Charlie started to search Bella. She starts to hang out with Jacob Black, to forget Edward. They both start to work on mother cycles and do all kind of things together. When Bella gets in a dangerous situation, she starts to hear Edwards voice, and then she realizes that. Bella starts to do all kind of dangerous things, such as motorcycling to hear his voice over and over. Then, Bella finds out that Jacob and his family are werewolves and they start to protect Bella from the vampire Victoria, who wants to kill Bella because Edward killed James, her friend. In the mean time, Bella and Jacob still hang out together, and Bella wants to cliff dive, but Jacob thinks this is a bad idea. But Bella wants to hear Edwards voice again, so she jumps of the cliff and then Jacob saves her. Then, Alice gets a vision of Bella who is cliff jumping, and she assumes that Bella is dead. Alice goes to Forks to see Bella’s father (Charlie) and then Edward calls to Bella’s home to ask where Charlie is, then Jacob answers the phone and says that Charlie is at a funeral (of a guy that died from a heart attack) and Edward thinks that he means Bella’s funeral. Edward then decides that he doesn’t wants to live anymore, so he goes to the Volturi in Italy. Bella and Alice decided to go to Italy and stop Edward. They stop him, but then the Volturi found out that Bella knew that vampire’s exists, and that she has to be killed or changed into a vampire. Back in Forks, Edward tells everything about why they’ve left, and then Bella wants the family to vote whether if she has to be changed into a vampire, and they all vote in favor, but only if she’s graduated.
Bella Swan: Bella is a girl who is happy with what she’s got, and holds on to it. When she wants to achieve something, she tries harder than she can. Bella is the silent girl who doesn’t wants to be in the middle of the spotlight.
Edward Cullen: Edward is a vampire boy who normally doesn’t communicate much with humans but since Bella, he does it more than usually. He is very protective and smart, and wants the best for Bella and his family.
Jacob Black: Jacob is a werewolf but he’s very friendly to anyone who isn’t a vampire. He and Bella get along very well, and he’s really nice to everyone and anything and also wants to protect Bella.
Fragment;
‘’And I’ll make you a promise in return,’’ he said. ‘’I promise that this will be the last time you’ll see me. I won’t come back. I won’t put you through anything like this again. You can go on with your life without any more interference from me. It will be as if I’d never existed.’’
My knees must have started to shake, because the trees were suddenly wobbling. I could hear the blood pounding faster than normal behind my ears. His voice sounded farther away.
This is at page 71 where Edward is leaving Bella because he and his family could become a danger to Bella. This fragment struck me the most because it’s so sad, and because Edward means the most to Bella, and then he’s leaving and her world is turned upside down.
Mention a problem the story points to, explores or deals with. Does the problem get resolved or is it simply presented? How would you have dealt with the problem?
In the beginning, when Edward is leaving Bella, she sees it as a problem. She doesn’t really solve it, but she tries to ignore it by hanging out with Jacob. I would’ve dealt it in the same way as she did.
Which character(s) did you especially like? What qualities appealed to you?
My favourite character of the book is Jacob, because he’s a really nice person and tries to help Bella to forget Edward, and he does all kinds of things with her, and he really has the patience for her.
What was your favourite part of the book? Explain why that part was appealing to you?
When Bella jumped of the cliff, because it symbolises much, such as love, and because of what’s happening around it.
Are you left with any questions or thoughts about the story that you do not have an answer to?
When you start to read, you get many questions but as you read trough, they’ll get answered, just like my questions.
Comment on the style of writing (perspective, vocabulary, style etc);
It’s in the view of Bella, and it stays in her view all the time and I think that they could’ve also used other people to narrate the story, or to tell something from their point of view. The vocabulary they use is fine, you can understand everything what’s being told and it’s easy to read too.
New ending;
I stood at the end of the cliff, waiting to hear his voice. ‘’Bella, don’t do this!’’ he said angry. I smiled, and jumped of the cliff. ‘’Bella!’’ he screamed. I’m sorry, I said in my mind, not wanting to break the silence. As I felt the cold air surrounding my body, I wasn’t afraid anymore of what had to come. I knew this was my last minute here, the last time to hear his voice. As I landed in the water, I could see him in my head, for the last time. ‘’Bella, why?’’ he asked. Without you, I can’t live anymore, you told me I could, but you’re wrong, I thought soft. I felt a rock pounding into my body, and a harsh shock through my ribs. I’ll always love you.., and I breathed out my last breath I would ever take…
I think the title isn’t very clear, I know what it means, but I don’t know why this book has this name. I’ve searched for an answer, but there wasn’t any clear answer, maybe it means that she has to start over, just like a new moon does. If I had to give the book a new name, I don’t really have another title to give, because it’s very difficult to give one to this book.
Recommendation;
It’s a very nice book to read, it’s also the follower of Twilight so that made it extra special to read for the real fans. If you like novels with a bit of fantasy in it, then this is a book you really need to read.

The titel heeft een soort van reden. Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse en Breaking Dawn, de titels zijn allemaal bijzondere... ehh... verschijnselen ofzo. Mist, nieuwe maan, eclips en morgenrood.
