Summary: It's started when Blair, the daughter from Luther and Nora, was going to eastern Peru to the Peace Corps. Luther looks on the bills from last Christmas and discoverd that he paid over the $600!!! So he decided to skip Christmas. He convinced his wife to spend the money on a 10-days cruise instead of Christmas cards, tree, gifst and so on. The neighbors from Luther and Nora think they are weird. One of the neighbors, Vic Frohmeyer ask Luther if he puts Frosty (= plastic snowman) on his roof for the big contest and he refused to do it. Nora is not happy with all this. Than Blair calls on Christmas Eve and she says that she will be home for Christmas with her Fiancé. Nora wants to cancel the cruise and have the Christmas party with al the
attributes. Luther agrees and buys a tree and al the other things. He tries to get Frosty on the roof and he slides off it. He doesn't fall because the rope around his ankle. The neighbors help him and together they get Frosty on the roof. At the ending of the book, Luther gives to a neighbor the trip. But he doesn't like the neighbor but his wife has brast cancer and she will die. Then he founds out how luckey he is.
My opinion: I Liked it!. The book was easy to read and there where not many difficult words. Also I like the subject from the book: Christmas and doing things against the opinion of a whole group. The tensions structure was very good. I didn't expect that the Kranks wouldn't go on a cruise and that Nora had a boyfriend and came earlier home for Christmas! Also I didn't expect that skipping Christmas had something to say. Be happy with the little things and enjoy life! My ending: Luther is angry because he gave the cruise away to his neighbore. Blair comes in to room and she sees her father said. But what Luther doesn't know, is that his daughter had a big surprice for him! She hands over a an envelope. Luther opens it and he takes the letter out. He doesn't noticed that Blair left the room. He started to read the letter: Dear Dad, I'm sorry that you couldn't skip Christmas. I hope you're not mad at me. I want to make it up with you. Next year, when I'm married, I'll take you and mom on a cruise to the Caribbean. Marry Christmas! With love, Blair.
