Ratchett got murdered in the Orient Express. - The family Armstrong : They exist of Colonel Armstrong, who was married with the daughter of Linda Arden, a famous actress. They had one child called Daisy, but when she was three years old she was kidnapped by a certain Cassetti. After they paid a lot of money, Daisy was found dead. By the shock Mrs Armstong died too. Mr. Armstrong shot himself. And the nursemaid, Susanne, was suspected of the crime, but she was innocent en threw herself from a window and was also killed. - Pierre Michel: He's the Conductor of the train and a Frenchman who lives near Calais. - There are 12 other passengers on the train and each person has their own typical things. If you want to know all these things, you’ll have to read the book by your own. I just can tell you that there are 6 women and 6 men. The story In the beginning of the story Poirot is staying in a hotel but there he received a telegram. A development has come unexpectedly and he had to go back immediately. Poirot will take the Orient Express to London. Now, he’s already

In the middle of the night, Poirot got awake by a cry and at the same time a bell rang. It was someons who has had a nightmare. It was difficult for Poirot to go sleep again. He could hear someone moving. Then he heard footsteps which passed the corridor. Another bell rang. Now, it was someone who thought there was a man in her room. Poirot was just sleeping, when something again woke him. He looked, but there was nothing, except a woman in a red kimono with dragons on it. When he awoke the next morning, Ratchett lies dead in his bed. He was killed with a knife at twelve places. Poirot wants to speak all passengers, because the murderer has to be with them on the train. M. Bouc who is the director of the train and Dr. Constantine who is a docter were with him to find out what happened last night. First they took a look at the victim and at any mysterious clues in the room. They saw window was open, and they concluded that there were two or more persons who had murdered Ratchett, because some wounds have been stucked with the right hand and some with the left hand. There was also a pipe-cleaner in the room, but Ratchett didn't smoke pipes. Poirot found also a handkerchief with the initial 'H' on it. Probably it's a woman's handkerchief. And the last thing they found were two burnt pieces of paper. There stood: 'member little Daisy Armstrong'. Poirot's eyes were shining. Now, he knew Ratchett his real name. It was 'Cassetti' and he’s the murderer of little Daisy Armstrong. Now, the 3 men had to ask all the passengers what they had done the last evening. After all the evidences of the passengers there are a few facts: - Ratchett (Cassetti) was stabbed at twelve places and died last night. The crime was probably committed at a quarter-past one and the murderer is still in the train. - The pipe-cleaner they found in Ratchett’s compartment is probably of Colonel Arbuthnot because he’s the only person on the train who smokes pipes and he has just the same pipe-cleaners as the one who was found. - In the night of the crime, there were two strangers on the train. Some persons had seen an other conductor who was on the train and he had even been in the room of a woman and ther was also a woman in a red kimono. But where are these clothes? - The handkerchief with the ‘H’ on it was from Princess Dragomiroff. But she has no idea how her handkerchief came to be lying in Ratchett’s compartment. Now, Poirot has to look in all the luggage of all passengers. The uniform with the missing button was found in the luggage of Hildegarde Schmidt, but she says she didn't put it in there. None of the passengers had the red kimono. When Poirot went to his own compartment to fetch some cigarettes, he found at the top of his luggage, the thinscarlet kimono with dragons. After the evidences of the luggage and of all the passengers, there are some things that need an explanation, but the big question is: Which of the passengers murdered Ratchett? After a few hours thinking, Poirot decide to have a second evidence with some persons. Now, nine of the twelve passengers have admit they had a connection with the Armstrong family. Poirot calls the 13 passengers to the dining-car and says he has found two possible sollutions. What these sollutions are and wich one is the right, you’ll have to find out by yourself and read the book!!
