1. Samenvatting

The boy who lived
The story starts on a street called Privet Drive. Mr. And Mrs. Dursley live here. They also have a little son, Dudley. They were very proud of their son. Then strange things happen in the Muggle world (the world of non-wizards, in which no one is aware of wizards and witches, or they just don’t believe in the fact that there are wizards at all.) There are flying owls over the city and there is some whispering about a ‘Harry Potter’.

Mr. Dursley hears that and he immediately thinks about the sister of his wife. They have a son named that. But there was something wrong with them. The Potter family was very strange and the Dursley’s didn’t like the Potters at all. They didn’t want to deal with them at all.


But one night something strange happens in the street where the Dursley family live. Two figures came in the street-Albus Dumbledore and a cat. The cat was Professor McGonagall. They discussed Lily and James Potter, who were murdered by the evil wizard Voldemort. He tried to kill Harry also but by a miracle he failed. But a scar remained on his forehead in shape of a lightning bolt. Dumbledore, McGonagall and Hagrid (a giant hairy man), bring little Harry to the Dursleys because that’s the only family he has.

The Vanishing Glass
So Harry lives with the Dursleys, but he is completely ignored and couldn’t do anything good. Their son Dudley was everything to the Dursley’s and Harry was nothing. Dudley’s birthday was celebrated excessively and Harry got his uncle's used socks for his birthday. All the time Harry lived at the Dursley’s they had never told him who he really was-a wizard. But Harry noticed he had a special gift. When he was in the zoo speaking with a boa constrictor he helped it escape. Due to this incident Harry was locked in this cupboard under the stairs as punishment, because that’s were he ‘lived’, in a cupboard under the stairs.

Dudley kept on teasing Harry. This year they both had to go to different school. Dudley went to Smeltings and Harry to Stonewall High. A letter came for Harry, but his uncle forbade him to read it. But letters keep coming, so much many letters that the Dursleys run away from home. But wherever they went, the letters followed.

The Keeper of the Keys
Then Hagrid comes along. Harry doesn’t know him, of course. Hagrid is completely convinced that Harry knows everything about his background, but that isn’t true. Hagrid is furious at the Dursleys and explains to Harry that he is a wizard. Then Harry recieved the letter, delivered by Hagrid. It was an invitation to study at Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Diagon Alley
Alley, where magicians can buy everything they need. There is a bank, The next day Hagrid and Harry travel to London to get school supplies. They went to The Leaky Cauldron, a pub invisible to Muggles, which is the gateway to DiagonGringotts, where Harry’s parents had their money. With the money he has inherited Harry buys school gear. He also got an owl as a gift from Hagrid, with which he could send letters. Everybody in the Leaky Cauldron was surprised to see Harry. He is a famous boy in the ‘wizarding world’ so he was received as a hero.

The Journey from Platform Nine and Three-Quarters
On 1st September it was time to travel to Hogwarts. He went to King's Cross, a train station in London, and boarded a  train which would bring him to Hogwarts. The train left from Platform Nine and Three-Quaters. At the station he became nervous because he didn’t see a platform with the number 9 ¾. Finally he saw a family which was going to Hogwarts too. This family was the Weasley's. They showed him how to get on the platform.


The Sorting Hat
At Hogwarts there is a sorting ceremony.There are four houses where the students can live. There are: Griffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. The sorting hat decides in which house you belong. When Harry put the hat on, it had to think a while because Harry didn’t want to go to Slytherin, but the hat thought Harry would achieve a lot in Slytherin. Happily for Harry it chose Griffindor, the same house as his new friend Ron. There is also a point system. The house which has the most points at the end of the year gets the House cup.

The potions Master
Harry really liked it on Hogwarts-the courses were fine and he made a lot of friends. For him it was a paradise in comparison with his live with the Dursleys. But there were also people he couldn’t stand. There even was a boy whom he hated more than than Dudley. His name was Draco Malfoy. He was a student from Slytherin. The other person Harry cannot stand is Professor Snape, the potions teacher and head of Slytherin. Harry had the idea Snape hated him because Snape did many things to discomfort him.

The Midnight Duel
Harry hated several people from Slytherin so he was delighted he just had two classes with them. But, unfortunately, one of the classes was flying, and that was one thing Harry wanted to do all ever since he got to Hogwarts. During the first flying lesson, the teacher, Madam Hooch, went with an injured student, Neville, to the hospital wing. She warned the students to stay off the broomsticks and if they do get on them they will be expelled. But then Malfoy challenges Harry by taking a magical device called a Remberall from a friend of his. Malfoy flies away and Harry flies after him. He had never flown on a broomstick before but he appears to be a natural! When he got on the ground Professor McGonagall asked for him and took him to her office. She is mad! Well, actually, she offers Harry a place on the Quidditch team for Griffindor. That’s a great honour because there  hasn't been any first year students on Quidditch school team in over a hundred years.

Malfoy thought Harry would be expelled and was very surprised when he saw him again. He challenged Harry again, this time to fight him in a wizard's duel. But Malfoy didn’t show up. Harry, Ron and their new friend Hermione weren’t caught sneaking around at night, although they did run into a monsterous three-headed dog.

Halloween
Harry got a Nimbus 2000, a very special broomstick. He goes to Quidditch training. On Halloween Harry, Ron and Hermione battle a Troll. They think Snape let it in the castle.

Harry had been practising for a long time with his team. Their main purpose was to beat Slytherin so Griffindor would get a lot of points and win the House Cup. The match went well up until near the end. Suddenly, Harry’s broomstick started to roll over and over-it looked like it wanted to buck Harry off.
Hermione and Ron saw Snape eye’s fixed on Harry and thought he was casting a Dark spell on the broomstick. So Hermione lit a fire and scared Professor Snape. At last Griffindor won the match.


They also had a conversation with Hagrid. He accidently mentioned that the the three-headed dog was named Fluffy.

The Mirror of Erised
It was Christmas. Most of the students went home for the holiday, but some stayed. Harry stayed, as did Ron. On Christmas morning Harry got a present-it was an invisibility cloak. A few nights later he went out under his invisibility cloak to explore the castle.  In a room he found a mirror. When he looked in it he saw his family. He was astonished. The next night he went to the mirror again but then Albus Dumbledore was also there. He said that the mirror showed things the person in front of it wanted to see. But he warned Harry not to go looking for this mirror again.

Nicolas Flamel
Since Hagrid mentioned the name of Nicolas Flamel, Harry, Ron and Hermione went to the library to find out who he was. Finally they found something. There was a link between Flamel and the Philosopher’s Stone. This stone makes gold and gives immortality. They thought Snape wanted to have it and suspected him of trying to steal it.  There was another Quidditch match. This time Snape refereed! Harry didn’t trust it him all, but nothing strange happened and they won.
On his way home Harry saw Snape running to the forest. He goes after him and finds out that ‘Fluffy’ guards the Philosopher’s Stone.

Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback
Hagrid had a dragon egg. With in a few days the egg burst open and a small dragon came out. However, dragons are forbidden at Hogwarts because you can’t teach them anything and they’re unpredictable. Norbert, the dragon, became unruly as well. Harry wondered how Hagrid actually got this dragon. Hagrid told he met someone in a pub who he played a game with and he won so he got the dragon. He also told the man also how to get pass ‘Fluffy’, and THAT was a big secret. Harry knew it also, because Hagrid told him by accident too. You only had to whistle a song and the three-headed dog will sleep. Finally they got rid of the dragon. But then they got caught.

The Forbidden Forest
For punishment they had to go to the forest to help Hagrid find out about the unicorns, which where being killed. They bumped into a few centaurs. Then they found out that the unicorn are killed for their blood, for it will keep you alive, but at a terrible price. You will have a half life, a cursed live. Only persons who need to stay alive only for a while until the person could drink something else that will bring back full strength and power would use it. Harry thought immediately it was Voldemort.


Through the Trapdoor
On the day Dumbledore is away at the Ministry of Magic Snape goes through the trapdoor. Harry, Ron and Hermione decide to go after him. They have to pass a lot of protections, charms and even a troll. Then, Harry is alone, because Ron and Hermione are going to get the Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore.

The Man with Two Faces
Harry arrives at the stone and he sees it isn’t Snape who’s after the stone, but instead it's Professor Quirrel, the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. He cooperates with Voldemort and is trying to get the stone for him, so Voldemort can get his power back.

But Albus Dumbledore arrives just in time to help Harry. Harry’s is nearly killed, but later wakes up in the hospital wing. When he is better he goes to the end of the year feast. Slytherin has got the most points and will win ‘The House Cup’. But the Headmaster gives a lot of points to Griffindor because the three friends defeated Voldemort. So, Griffindor wins! Then there’s the end of the school year, and Harry goes back to the Dursley’s.

2. De analyse

A. titelverklaring
De titel ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone’ is heel makkelijk uit te leggen. Het hele boek draait namelijk om de ‘Philosopher’s stone’. Voldemort, de slechterik, probeert deze steen te pakken, en Harry Potter belet hem uiteindelijk.
Het volgende citaat is genomen uit het hoofdstuk ‘The Forbidden Forest’, Harry zit op de rug van een centaur.
‘Harry potter, do you know what unicorn blood is used for?’ ‘No,’ said Harry, startled by the odd question. ‘We’ve only used the horn and tail-hair in Potions.’ ‘That is because it is a monstrous thing, to slay a unicorn,’ said Firenze. ‘Only one who has nothing to lose, and everything to gain, would commit such a crime. The blood of a unicorn will keep you alive, even if you are an inch from death, but at a terrible price. You have slain something pure and defenceless to save yourself and you will have but a half life, a cursed life, from the moment the blood touches your lips.’ Harry stared at the back of Firenze’s head, which was dappled silver in the moonlight. ‘But who’d be that desperate?’ he wondered aloud. ‘If you’re going to be cursed for ever, death’s better, isn’t it?’ ‘It is,’ Firenze agreed, ‘unless all you need is to stay alive long enough to drink something else –something that will bring you back to full strenght and power – something that will mean you can never die. Mr Potter, do you know what is hidden in the school at this very moment?’ ‘The Philosopher’s Stone! Of course – the Elixier of Live! But I don’t understand who –‘ ‘Can you think of nobody who has waited may years to return to power, who has clung to life, awaiting their chance? Some say he died. Codswallop, in my opinion. Dunno if he had enough human left in him to die.’ ‘Do you mean,’ harry croaked,’That was Vol-‘ (page 279-280)
Ik vind het een goed gekozen titel, omdat de ‘philospher’s stone’ het onderwerp is, Harry en zijn vrienden zoeken ernaar in heel het boek.


2. Een andere titel:
‘Harry Potter: his First year at Hogwarts’
Ik vind dit ook wel een goede titel omdat dit het eerste jaar is dat Harry Potter op Hogwarts zit. Zijn eerste van de vijf als ik het goed heb.
Het volgende citaat komt uit het hoofdstuk ‘The keeper of the Keys’. Er verschijnt een brief voor Harry, maar zijn stiefouders willen niet dat hij die brief leest, want het is een uitnodiging voor Harry om naar Hogwarts, de school voor Hekserij en Hocus Pocus te komen.
Harry stretcehd out his hand at last to take the yellowish envelop, addressed in emerald green to: Mr. H. Potter, The Floor, Hut-on-the-Rock, The Sea. He pulled out the letter and read:

HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY
Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore (order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Mr Potter,
We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardy. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1 Septmeber. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

B. Het uiterlijk en de karakters van twee belangrijke personages
Harry potter: hij is het hoofdpersonage. Hij is een klein jongetje met groene ogen, zwart haar, een rond brilletje en hij heeft een litteken op zijn voorhoofd.
‘He looked even smaller and skinnier than he really was because all he had to wear were old clothes of Dudley’s and Dudley was about four times bigger than he was. Harry had a thin face, knobbly knees, black hair and bright-green eyes. He wore round glasses held together with a lot of Sellotape because of all the times Dudley had punched him on the nose. The only thing Harry liked about his own appearance was a very thin scar on his forehead which was shaped like a bolt of lightning.’ (page 27)

Dit stemt volledig overeen met zijn karakter. Hij is stil, maar laat door niemand op zijn kop zitten. ‘’Oh, this is Crabbe and this is Goyle,‘ said the pale boy carelessly, noticing where Harry was looking. ‘And my name’s Malfoy, Draco Malfoy.’ Ron gave a slight cough, which might have been hiding a snigger. Draco Malfoy looked at him. ‘Think my name’s funny, do you? No need to ask who you are. My father told me all the Weasleys have red hair, freckles and more children than they can afford.’ He turned back to Harry. ‘You’ll soon find out some wizarding families are much better than others, Potter. You don’t want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there.’ He held out his hand to shake Harry’s, but Harry didn’t take it. ‘I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks,’ he said coolly.’ (page 120).
Harry is helemaal niet arrogant ‘It was dinner time. Harry had just finished telling Ron what had happened when he’d left the grounds with Professor McGonagall. Ron had a piece of steak-and-kidney pie halfway to his mouth, but he’d forgotten all about it. ‘Seeker?’ he said. ‘But first-years never –you must be the youngest house player about-’ ‘-a century,’ sied Harry, shoveling pie into his mouth. He felt particularly hungry after the excitement of the afternoon. ‘Wood told me.’ Ron was so amazed, so impressed, he just sat and gaped at Harry. ‘I start training next week,’ said Harry. ‘Only don’t tell anyone, all right?’ (page 166-167)
En hij loopt zeker niet te koop met zijn bekendheid en krachten. Dat maakt hem juist zo symphatiek bij de lezer. Hij weet zijn verantwoordelijkheid te nemen in juiste omstandigheden en springt voor vrienden in het vuur.
‘You drink that,’ said Harry. ‘No, listen – get back and get Ron – grab brooms from the flying key room, they’ll get you out of the trapdoor and past Fluffy – go straight to the owlery and send Hedwig to Dumbledore, we need him. I might be able to hold Snape off for a while, but I’m no match for him really.’ ‘But Harry – what if You-Know-Who’s with him?’’Well – I was lucky once, wasn’t I?’ said Harry, pointing at his scar. ‘I might get lucky again’ Hermiones’s lip trembled and she suddenly dashed at Harry and threw her arms around him. ‘Hermione!’ ‘Harry –You’re a great wizard, you know.’ ‘I’m not as good as you,’ said Harry, very embarressed, as she let go of him.’ (page 308)

Voldemort: Voldemort is de slechte tovenaar. ‘See there was this wizard who went… bad. As bad as you could go. Worse. Worse than worse. His name was…’ (page 64)
Hij heeft geleerd voor zwarte magie, en wil alle macht. ‘All right.- Voldemort.’ Hagrid shuddered. ‘Don’ make me say it again. Anyway, this-this wizard, about twenty years ago now, started lookin’ for fellowers. Got ‘em, too – some were afraid, some just wanted a bit o’ his power, ‘cause he was getting’ himself power, all right. Dark days, Harry. Didn’t know who ter trust, didn’t dare get friendly with strange wizards or witches… Terrible things happened. He was takin’ over. ‘Course, some stood up to him – an’ he killed ‘em. Horribly. One o’ the only safe places left was Hogwarts.’ (page 64)
Alleen hij heeft zijn krachten op een mystereuze manier verloren toen hij Harry Potter, toen die nog een baby was, probeerde te doden. Iedereen is bang voor hem, er wordt tovenaarskinderen al vanaf jongs af aan geleerd dat hij heel slecht is en dat je zelfs zijn naam niet uit mag spreken. ‘‘…and until Hagrid told me, I didn’t know anything about a wizard or about my parents or Voldemort-‘ Ron gasped. ‘What?’ said Harry. ‘You said You-Know-Who’s name! said Ron., sounding both shocked and impressed. ‘I’d have thought you, of all people-‘’ (page 111)
Iedereen is bang dat hij terugkomt, in volle sterkte. Hij kan zijn krachten terugkrijgen als hij de ‘Philosopher’s stone’ in zijn bezit krijgt.
Voldemort is, nu hij geen krachten heeft, geen echt tastbaar persoon die je kan zien. Hij kan wel zijn ziel delen met een bestaand persoon. Dit heeft hij ook gedaan met Professor Quirrel. Zodat hij toch in contact staat met de ‘echte wereld’. Op het einde staat Harry toch wel oog in oog met Voldemort.
‘’He lies… He lies…’ ‘Potter, come back here!’ Quirrel shouted. ‘Tell me the truth! What did you just see?’ The high voice spoke again. ‘Let me speak to him… face to face…’ ‘Master, you are not strong enough!’ ‘I have strength enough... for this…’ Harry felt as if Devil’s snare was rooting him to the spot. He couldn’t move a muscle. Petrified, he watched as Quirrel reached up and began to unwrap his turban. What was going on? The turnban fell away. Quirrel’s head looked strangely small without it. Then he turned slowly on the spot. Harry would have screamed, but he couldn’t make a sound. Where should have been a back to Quirrel’s head, there was a face, the most terrible face Harry had ever seen. It was chalk white with glaring red eyes and slits for nostrils, like a snake.’ (page 315)


E. 1. Het grootste probleem van 2 personages.
Hierbij neem ik de twee personages die ik ook beschreven heb in de vorige opgave, Harry Potter en Voldemort.
Het grootste probleem van Harry Potter is dat Professor Snape de ‘Philosopher’s stone’ niet in zijn bezit mag krijgen, omdat hij die macht die hij dan bezit zal misbruiken. ‘’See?’ said Hermione, when Harry and Ron had finished. ‘The dog must be guarding Flamel’s Philosopher’s Stone! I bet he asked Dumbledore to keep it safe for him, because they’re friends and he knew someone was after it. That’s why he wanted the Stone moved out of Gringotts!’ ‘A stone that makes gold and stops you ever dying!’ said Harry. ‘No wonder Snape’s after it! Anyone would want it.’(page 238)
In een van de laatste hoofdstukken komt Harry erachter dat Snape de stone niet voor zichzelf wil maar dat hij gebruikt word door Voldemort Firenze agreed, ‘unless all you need is to stay alive long enough to drink something else –something that will bring you back to full strenght and power – something that will mean you can never die. Mr Potter, do you know what is hidden in the school at this very moment?’ ‘The Philosopher’s Stone! Of course – the Elixier of Live! - Het grootste probleem van Voldemort is dat hij al zijn kracht kwijt is, dat hij geen macht meer heeft. Deze macht heeft hij altijd wel gehad.
‘All right.- Voldemort.’ Hagrid shuddered. ‘Don’ make me say it again. Anyway, this-this wizard, about twenty years ago now, started lookin’ for fellowers. En deze macht wil hij heel graag weer terug ‘Can you think of nobody who has waited many years to return to power, who had clung for lif, awaiting their chance?’ It was as though an iron fist had clenched suddenly around Harry’s heart. Over the rustling of the trees, he seemed to hear once more what Hagrid had told him on the night they had met:’Some say he died. Codswallop, on my opinion. Dunno if he had enough human left in him to die.’’Do you mean,’ Harry croaked,’that was Vol-‘ (Page 280)

2. Worden de problemen opgelost?

Het probleem van Harry potter word wel opgelost. Zijn grootste zorg was namelijk dat de Phylosophers stone niet in de verkeerde handen terecht komt. En dat is ook het geval. Hij vindt als eerste de steen, en laat hem ook niet meer afpakken. Uiteindelijk word de steen vernietigt zodat het niet meer in verkeerde handen kan vallen.
Het probleem van Voldemort word niet opgelost. Want hij verliest het duel om de Steen. En zo mist hij de kans om zijn krachten weer terug te krijgen.

3. Je eigen mening

A. Een formele brief aan de auteur

Dear Miss Rowling,


I have read your book, part one from Harry Potter, The Philosopher’s Stone. For school I have to write a letter about my opinion of this book.
And I have to tell you: I love this book! And I have read it with a lot of pleasure. It was not difficult to read. And the characters are so funny described. There are a lot of different characters also, and that makes the book nice and interesting to read. I find Harry a very symphatic person, a sweet boy. I also like the fact that the main subject is magic. And that they can fly broomstick, do spells, make poison’s, play Quidditch….
At the end everything fits together, it makes the book complete. I would love to read all the other parts of Harry Potter!

C. De passage die me het meest geraakt heeft.
Deze passage komt uit het een na laatste hoofdstuk, ‘The Man with Two Faces’. Hierin staat Harry voor de ‘mirror of Erised’, en krijgt hij de ‘Philosopher’s stone’ in zijn broekzak. Hij staat bijna oog in oog met zijn grootste vijand Voldemort. Professor Quirrel deelt zijn ziel met Voldemort, Quirrel is dus ook aanwezig. Voldemort gebruikt professor Quirrel om de steen der wijzen te bemachtigen zodat hij heel machtig kan worden. Maar daarbij heeft hij de hulp van Harry nodig omdat hij weet hoe de spiegel werkt. Want Harry is de spiegel al een keer eerder tegengekomen. Het laat je diepste wens zien. Zie bijlagen (page 314-315)
Het loopt allemaal wel goed af, want harry houd de steen vast en laat hem niet afpakken. Dumbledore komt hem op tijd redden, en de steen wordt uiteindelijk vernietigt. Voldemort word weer een geest, hij heeft geen lichaam meer waar die in kan leven, en verdwijnt weer uit zicht.
Ik heb deze passage gekozen omdat ik vind dat Harry veel moed toont door te liegen over wat hij in de spiegel zegt, en omdat de ‘philosopher’s stone’ hier tastbaar in beeld komt. Het is de ontknoping van het boek en dat raakt me vaak wel.

E. Zou dit verhaal echt gebeurd kunnen zijn?
Nee, dat kan niet! Hier kan ik heel kort over zijn. Alle magie die in dit boek voorkomt, de trein die vertrekt van perron 9 ¾, toverspreuken, het vliegen op bezemstelen en de personen op de schilderijen die zomaar weg zijn! Dit kan echt niet werkelijk gebeurd zijn.


4. Creatieve opdrachten

Interview met Harry Potter
Ik kies voor Harry omdat hij de hoofdpersoon is, en heel het boek dus om hem draait. En omdat hij een heel sympathiek persoon is, die ik graag zou willen interviewen.
- Harry, hoe was je eerste jaar op Hogwarts bevallen?
Harry: ontzettend goed! Ja het was heel gezellig en ik vermaakte me opperbest! Ik heb veel vrienden gemaakt en het vooral het toveren was heel leuk om te leren.
- Hoe was dit jaar in vergelijking met de voorafgaande jaren bij the Dursley’s?
Het was een hele erge verbetering! Ik werd niet meer genegeerd, ik heb vrienden gemaakt. Ik heb eigen geld, eigen kleren. Ik word hier met respect behandeld en ik word niet helemaal de grond in geboord, net als Dudley altijd deed?
- Dus ga je in de zomervakantie thuis Dudley thuis terug pakken? toverspreuken ‘uitproberen’?
Ja zeker! Ik verander hem in een varken ofzo! Hahah! Nee hoor, dat doe ik niet. Ik zal heel onopvallend proberen hem zijn lesje te leren. Ik laat me in ieder geval niet meer zo erg kleineren.En ze zullen best bang voor me zijn nu, hopelijk laten ze me met rust.
- Je bent best bekend he? Hoe ga je daarmee om?
Oh, ik ga er niet van naast mijn schoenen lopen ofzo. Het is wel leuk, maar het kan ook wel in je nadeel werken, kijk maar naar Snape. Uh.. professor Snape, sorry.

- Mis je je ouders?
Missen, missen… ik weet niet of dat het goede woord is. Ik bedoel ik heb ze nooit gekend, natuurlijk wel veel verhalen gehoord over ze, maar ik ken ze niet goed genoeg om ze te missen. Natuurlijk vind ik het heel erg dat ik geen echte moeder of vader heb, want de Dursley’s zijn nou niet echt goed plaatsvervangers. Dus ik zou wel een andere, leukere jeugd hebben gehad met ouders die echt van me houden.Ik zou ze heel graag terug willen, dan bedoel ik dat ik gewoon opgegroeid was met hun bij mij.
- Wat ging er door je heen toen je je familie zag in de ‘mirror of Erised’?
Ik wilde terug naar die spiegel! Ik wilde ze weer zien! Ik voelde me heel blij maar tegelijk voelde ik me verdrietig. Ik keek naar mijn ouders! Ik was heel nerveus toen ik de volgende avond weer terug ging, want ik was bang dat de spiegel er misschien niet meer was. Ik vond het zo mooi om mijn hele familie te zien.
- Wat voelde je toen je oog in oog stond met Voldemort?
Ik voelde de pijn in mijn litteken, toen sterker dan ooit. Hij was nog lelijker en afschrikwekkender dan ik had verwacht.
- Was je bang toen je die drie ingewikkelde opdrachten moest vervullen om bij de steen te komen?
Nee ik was niet bang, hoewel ik wel wist dat we deze opdrachten moesten vervullen omdat we anders de pineut waren, want Voldemort zou dan de steen in handen krijgen.
- Had je helemaal niet verwacht dat Professor Quirrel samenwerkte met Voldemort en niet Snape?
Nee want professor Quirrel leek me zo aardig. Het leek echt net dat Snape mij wilde vermoorden bij die ‘Quidditch’-match, en dat Snape de trol binnen had gelaten en dat Snape Quirrel onder druk had gezet. Maar dat bleek allemaal niet waar te zijn, ik was heel erg verbaast, ja.
- Waren de antwoorden die Albus Dumbledore gaf op je vragen voldoende?

Nou, het was wel ophelderend moet ik zeggen, ik snap nu bijvoorbeeld waarom Snape een hekel aan mij heeft en toch mij probeerde te beschermen. En waarom Quirrel zo veel pijn had toen ik hem aanraakte. Maar alleen de vraag waarom Voldemort mij wilde doden toen ik nog zo klein was wilde hij niet beantwoorden. Hij vertelde dat ik daar in de loop van de tijd wel achter zou komen, nou ik ben benieuwd.
- Heb je al zin in het volgende schooljaar?
Ja echt wel! Ik hoop dat ik deze zomer een beetje doorkom bij de Dursley’s. Maar dat zal wel lukken, ik ben namelijk ook uit genodigt door Ron en zijn familie dus daar ga ik ook een paar weekjes heen!
