Elvis Aaron Presley, was born to Vernon and Gladys Presley in a two-room house in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935. His twin brother, Jessie Garon, died directly after he was born. So Elvis grow up as an only child. He and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948. His parents were royal members of “the first Assembly of God.” It’s a small church nearby there home. Elvis’ musical influences were the pop and country music of the time, the gospel music he heard in church and at the all-night gospel songs he frequently heard, and the black R&B he heard on historic Beale Street as a Memphis teenager. Elvis “graduated” from Humes High School in 1953. He always feel asleep on school, so he left there in 1953 to be a truckdriver. In 1954, he began his singing career with the legendary Sun Records label in Memphis. In late 1955, his contract was sold to RCA Victor. By 1956, he was an international sensation. With the sound and style that uniquely combined his diverse musical influences, he was called the white man that can sing black. He became a real popstar, also known as Elvis the Pelvis, because his hips were all shaky and he was very sexy and according to many parents dangerous. His other nickname was “the King.” Even the fact that he was one of the most famous young men under the 25 years, he still had to join the army. That was in March 1958. In October he arrived just like a normal soldier with the number 53.310.761 ready for duty and to serve the U.S.A for 18 months. During a vacation coming home his mother died and Vernon, but especially Elvis was broken, because of his close band with her. Some people say that Elvis died the day that he went into the army. In 1960 he got out of the army and saw a girl named Priscilla Beaulieu. She was only 14 years old, and they got married in 1967, in Las Vegas. At the first of February 1968 his only child Lisa Marie Presley was born. He got divorced from Priscilla at the 9th October 1973. He now has sold over one billion records, more than any other artist. His American sales have earned him gold, platinum or multi-platinum awards for 131 different albums and singles, far more than any other artist. Among his many awards and accolades were 14 Grammy nominations (3 wins) from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, which he received when he was 36 years old, and than he was named One of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Nation for 1970 by the United States Jaycees. Elvis died at the 16 August, 1977, not according to his wish (on the stage), but on his toilet. Because of an overdoses drugs. From research there now is the knowledge that he died, because he had used more than nine sorts of drugs like Valium, Valmid, Codeïne, Morfine, and so on…
