My article is about media policy.
Becouse the State Sectretary of media policy, Medy van der Laan has decided to discontinue the NPS.
The NPS is a Dutch public broadcastingnetwork.
Because the State Secretary of media policy wants to reform the broadcasting system, there is no room for the NPS anymore.
Miss van der Laan has given the NPS 3 years to place their programmes elsewhere.
But now she has realized that that is too little time, so she wants to postpone her earlier made timelimit.
This new proposal makes the liberals very mad, because they don’t think she should postpone the dissolvement of the NPS.
According to the liberals it isn’t necessary to delay the closing down of the NPS.
They think the NPS don´t need that much time to relocate their programmes like: NOVA, Sesamystreet and Buitenhof.
According to the speaker of the liberals miss Örgü, three years is enough to relocate the programmes.
Further delay of the closing down, may give the NPS the false hope that cancellation is still possible.
Initially the Christian Democrates were ok with the delay, but if the liberals reject this delay, it is possible that the Christian Democrates change their minds.
Miss Örgü thinks that miss van der Laan didn´t act correctly.
But fortunately the liberals have a good weapon to get their way.
The engagements that the chairmen have made last june have the status of an coalition agreement.
That means nobody can change the made engagements.
Speaker Bakker from the D66 says that in the made coalition agreement the specific year 2008 wasn´t mentioned.
This means that miss van der Laan deviates from the made agreement.

She says when an engagement is made, you can’t back out of the made engagement.
The new proposal from miss van der Laan departs from the made engagement with the three coalition partys.
According to Miss Örgü miss van der Laan wasn’t even present when some decisions about the NPS were made, one of the made decisions was that the NPS had until the year 2008 to place their programmes elsewehere.
Miss Örgü thinks they have given the NPS enough time.

The liberals don’t want to get in the way of miss van der Laan, but when they think that miss van der Laan proposes something that the don’t agree whit, and that’s why the liberals don’t want to open a made agreement.
Miss Örgü says, that her party appreciates that miss van der Laan comes whit new suggestions about the broadcastingsytem, but when they go against the made agreements, they will protest
