Bookcomparison
In this text I’m going to compare these three books that I have read: The Black cat, L.A. winners and Kidnap & Rescue. I liked L.A. winners the most and I will tell you why:

First of all I want to tell you something about the stories in general: Black Cat and L.A. winners are detective stories, Kidnap & Rescue is an adventurous story.
In the Black Cat and in Kidnap & Rescue the whole story is hold together by luck. The story can’t be like it is if the characters didn’t had so much luck, I’ll give you a example from those 2 books: In Kidnap & Rescue, Aziz was very lucky that the ‘’criminals’’ brought him to the same area where his friends Tom and Sheila went to for vacation work. Because he was in the same area he could ask them for help. In the Black Cat, Salahadin was at the end of the story Salahadin was at a boat and a Mr. Peterson aimed with a gun to Salahadin. But (thanks to the luck) the boat shook and Mr. Peterson dropped his gun. Because Mr. Peterson had no gun anymore Salahadin could throw him in sea. Besides that L.A. winners has not this kind of big luck. Sometimes Lenny has some luck: At Slim’s office he took a blue pass out of the drawer, but what if the drawer was locked or slim kept the cards with him? Then it couldn’t happen, so Lenny has a little luck but not as much as in the other stories. This story attracted me because a lot of times Lenny has NO luck, like in front of Stable 14 he was hit on his head and kicked by criminals. Another example at ride-a-winner-ranch: He was looking with his binoculars to the house of Sandy but then the ‘’guard (Old Lou)’’ caught him. So again no luck for him. This is one of the reasons I like L.A. winners because I don’t like stories in which the characters are helped by a lot of luck!!!

Furthermore I want to compare the (most important) characters of the three books:
L.A. winners:
1. Lenny Samual
2. Sandy Bonner
3. Criminals: Dick Gates, Ventanas
The Black Cat:
1. Salahadin
2. Peterson
3. Pearson
4. Borkman
Kidnap & Rescue:
1. Aziz
2. Mrs. Dempster
3. Mr. Brody
4. Bill
5. Aziz his friends: Tom & Sheila
Now I’m going to compare these characters:
There’s one big similarity: The main characters (Lenny, Salahadin, and Aziz) are all males. That was one thing I wondered about why do writers often choose males in detective stories?
But let’s take a look at the details: Lenny Samual is a very strong man, he looks very powerful to me, Salahadin is a very experienced man who knows a lot about his job, Aziz is just a young student who isn’t experienced at all and he just wants a job while vacation.

Finally I’m going to compare the ‘’Bad’’ guys of the stories:
Peterson, Borkman, Mrs. Dempster, Mr. Brody, Bill, Dick Gates and Ventanas are all just criminals who have done something or do something while the story is going on.
Mrs. Dempster and Mr. Brody are criminals who work together for their boss, just like Dick Gates and Ventanas work together. But Peterson and all the other members of their gang have all get a specific job to do. Borkman had to kill Pearson and take the Black Cat, then Peterson has to get the Black Cat from Borkman and he has to bring it to a save area.
I like the character Lenny the most because he’s a strong man, but in the story he’s also beaten, so he’s not to strong and I like that kind of set-up.

This was my comparison of the three books, I hope you enjoyed it. Most of all, I liked L.A. winners the most and I would really recommend this book to everybody!!!
