What to do in Amsterdam

If you are in Amsterdam there are a few things you have to see. For example the Amsterdam version of Madame Tussaud's museum of wax puppets who show the Dutch history in the first part and other celebrities in the second part.

And of course the famous Anne Frank house where the Jewish was hiding during the second world war and wrote the world-famous diary “Het achterhuis”.

If you like art, the Van Gogh museum is a very good place to go. The museum has the world's largest collection of works by Vincent Van Gogh with more than 200 paintings, 500 drawings and 700 letters. But the Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk museum are very interesting museums too.

If the weather is not too bad you can go to Vondelpark for a nice walk. And of course you have to make a cruise through Amsterdam on a boat.

Of course you can go shopping in Amsterdam as well. Popular streets to shop are the Kalverstraat and Waterlooplein. A famous shop is The Bijenkorf where they have absolutely everything.

But watch out! There are pick pockets and there is much crime.

Also there are  many coffee shops where you can buy marijuana. Marijuana is legal in the Netherlands but I don’t recommend to try it out as a teenager. You can always try it if you are an adult.

And of course the famous Red Light District. The Red Light District is the oldest part of the city. Crowded and colourful, it is home to hundreds of sex shops. Prostitutes pose in many of the area’s shop-windows. The best and safest way to discover the area is to take a guided tour.
