Christina Aguilera

I’m going to have my speech about Christina Aguilera. I chose Christina because I think she’s a really intresting person, and because I really like her last album; Stripped.

Christina Maria Aguilera was born in 1980, at the 18th of December. She was born in New York, but grew up in Pittsburgh. She always wanted to become a singer. Her parents divorced when she was young, and her mum remarried. For several years, she had very little contact with her dad.

Christina did a lot of talentsearches and preformes. People reconized that she had an incredeble strong voice, and when she was nine, she took part the tv-show ‘Star search’. She didn’t win, but Christina didn’t gave up. When she was twelve, she was invited in ‘The New Mickey Mouse Show’, together with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, *N Sinc and many others.

After ‘The New Mickey Mouse Club’, a Japenese singer was looking for a duet partner to sing together ‘All I wanna do’. After the audition, Christina was chosen. They perform the song in Japan. After that, she was searching for a record contract. The people of Disney were searching for someone to sing the soundtrack of the movie ‘Mulan’. They remembered Christina at ‘The New Mickey Mouse Club’, so Christina got the job and sang ‘Reflection’, and she get a recording contract with RCA Records.

Her record contract did a lot of promotion for her, and they started making her first album. The first single, ‘Genie in a Bottle’,
came out in America in the summer of 1999. It became an enormous hit. Eight million copy’s of her album were selled. Britney Spears was making at the same time music, and a lot of people thought Christina would be a Britney look-a-like.
Christina’s next single’s were ‘What a Girl Wants’,
‘Come on over Baby’ and the ballad ‘I turn to you’.

In 2001, she made a song, together with P!nk, Missy Elliot, Mya and Lil’ Kim. It’s called ‘Lady Marmelade’, a soundtrack of ‘Moulin Rouge’. There was a lot of critism about the videoclip; people said they showed to much skin. But Christina loved to do it.
Later, she made the Spanish album ‘’Mi Reflejo’. She couldn’t speak or sing Spanish, but she learned it. She recorded the single ‘’Nobody Wants to be lonely’ with Ricky Martin, and she made the Christmas album ‘My Kind Of Christmas’.

In 2004, the album ‘Stripped’ appeared. The first single became ‘Dirrty’, a remix of the song ‘Let’s get dirty’, from the rapper Red Man. Many people didn’t react very positive. In the videoclip, Christina had very little clothes on. With her new album, she took a new of music and clothes. She got an award of ‘Worst dressed woman’.

The next singles became ‘Beautiful’, ‘Fighter’, ‘Can’t hold us down’, with the rapper Lil’ Kim, and ‘The voice whitin’. At my birthsday, I got a copy of the album, and I loved it. There are a lot of different music style’s on it: R&B, rock, pop, soul, Latin, some kind of gospel and a bit of hiphop. I have got more favorite songs on the album, but I like ‘Soar’ the most, it has got beautiful lyrics and I think she sings incredeble good in that song.

Christina’s latest single’s are ‘Carwash’, with Missy Elliot;
a soundtrack of ‘Sharktale’ and the single ‘Tilt ya head back’ with Nelly. Her next album will appear soon.
