Bw zegt iets over ww, bijv: Speak quietly!
C. Bw kan ook iets over bnw of andere bw zeggen, bijv: extremely good

108 ~ Woordvolgorde (werkwoord, lijdend voorwerp, plaats en tijd)
A. Geen woorden tussen pv. en lv, bijv: I like children very much.
B. Tijd na plaats, bijv: I took somebody home yesterday.

109 ~ Woordvolgorde (bijwoorden en werkwoorden)
A. Sommige bw-en gaan met het ww in het midden van de zin, bijv: always, also.
B. Regels voor bw-en in het midden van de zin (er zijn uitzonderingen):
1. Als het ww één woord is, staat het bw ervoor, bijv: I always eat it.
2. Bij vormen van to be, bw erachter, bijv: I am never late.
3. Als het ww meerdere woorden is, staat het bw na het eerste ww, bijv: I can never remember her name.
C. All: We all feel ill, We are all going out.
Both: They are both teachers, They have both applied for the job.
D. Bij herhalend gedeelte zin, bw voor ww, bijv: I’ve never done it and I never will.

110 ~ Still, any more/any longer/no longer, yet, already.
A. Still wil zeggen dat iets onveranderd doorgaat, staat in het midden v zin
B. Not…any more/longer, iets is veranderd, einde van zin, bijv: I don’t work here any more/longer. No longer, midden zin, bijv: I no longer work here.
C. Yet = tot nu toe, present perfect, einde van zin, bijv: He hasn’t got up yet.
D. Already,iets gebeurt eerder dan verwacht, midden zin,he has already gone
111 ~ Even.
A. = zelfs, iets is ongebruikelijk of verrassend, bijv: Everyone is happy, even the fish.
B. Staat in het midden van een zin, bijv: I can’t even boil an egg.
C. Kan gebruikt met vergrotende trap, bijv: It’s even less than I thought.
D. Kan gebruikt met though/when/if,bijv: Even though I can’t, I want to do it

A. By: +een tijd, = niet later dan, bijv: I have to be home by 6 o’clock.
B. Until: =till, = tot, hoe lang, bijv: I’ll stay until 5 pm.
C. By the time: +ond+ww, bijv: By the time you read this, we’ll be back.

120 ~ At/on/in (tijd)
A. At: voor een tijdstip, bijv: at 11.45, at midnight, at lunchtime.
On: voor dagen/data, bijv: on Friday, on 30 March 1988, on my birthday.
In: voor langere perioden, bijv: in the winter, in 1988, in the past.
B. At: bep. uitdrukkingen, bijv: at weekends, at Christmas, at the moment.
C. In the morning, On Friday morning.
D. Geen vz voor last/next/this/every, bijv: I’ll see you next Monday.
E. In: bij tijd in de toekomst, bijv: I’ll be back in 6 months.

A. On time: niet te laat, op het geplande tijdstip, bijv: The train left on time.
In time: op tijd voor iets,vroeg genoeg,bijv: I’ll be home in time for dinner
B. At the end: op het einde van iets, bijv: I’ll receive it at the end of July.
In the end: = tenslotte, bijv: In the end we sold our car.

A. Hoe je iets doet, bijv: send something by post, do something by hand, pay by cheque, something happens by mistake/accident/chance.
B. Hoe je reist, bijv: travel by car/train/air/sea. Maar: on foot.
C. Passief, = door, bijv: I’m bitten by a dog. A play by Shakespeare.
D. = naast/bij (plaats), bijv: Come and sit by me.
E. Bij een toename, bijv: Her salary has gone up from 1.000 a month to 1100. It has increased by 100,-/ by ten per cent.
