Writing exercise: Civil war: Murphy's view

Now there were just two of them. Murphy was alone with Dolan and he knew, Dolan feared him because he was the real commander. He had no regrets that he killed the other soldiers. They were just cowards; they had given up the cause. They didn’t understand how important this was to him and to Ireland. They were just not brave enough to give their life for their country. He was brave enough; he would give his life for his country. He would die for the cause but Dolan who sat beside him was just a coward. He knew that Dolan wanted to surrender, you saw it in his eyes, and they were full of fear. He is just not brave enough but if he had to, he would kill him no matter what. He will be lying between the other traitors on the street. He couldn’t believe that they betrayed their country, they betrayed the cause, and they had to die for that. Light spread, whitening, sparkling, and warming the roof. Sounds approached, two green clothed men appeared, walking slowly on either side of the street both starring upwards. They were the enemy and he was going to kill them. What now! The bastard wants to give up this is going cost him, he is going down. They fought and shouted; the soldiers in the street heard them and saw them. They shot Murphy. His last thought was: ‘At least I died as a hero and not as a traitor.
